WWE Royal Rumble Results – January 31, 2010 – Undertaker vs. Mysterio

Rumble opening, pretty standard affair. Covers the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship and Royal Rumble matches.

Michael Cole welcomes us to the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA.

Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker will be our announce team for the night.

Savannah introduces the ECW Championship match. Christian out first followed by Big Zeke.

 
ECW Championship Match – Christian (Champion) vs Ezekiel Jackson

Match starts with them feeling each other out with tests of strengths and whatnot. Christian slaps Zeke, Zeke chasing Christian, sending them to the floor. Christian with the leap to the outside onto Zeke.

Zeke whips Christian from one turnbuckle to the other. Christian goes for the Killswitch Engage but is reversed. Christian to the second rope and Zeke pulls him down. Christian rolls to the outside where Regal attempts to interfere but the ref throws Regal out.

Zeke and Christian brawl on the outside. Zeke sends Christian into the steps and throws him into the ring for a two count. Zeke puts Christian in a choke then gives him a chokeslam for another two count.

Vertical suplex for another two count on Christian. Zeke beats down Christian for a bit. Christian kicks Zeke, goes for a splash from the top but is again reversed for a baldo bomb for yet another two count.

Chinlock by Zeke but Christian comes back, slapping Zeke. Christian ducks a clothesline but Zeke connects from the back. Zeke with what I can only describe as an inverted Full Nelson. Zeke sets Christian up on the top rope for a Superplex but Christian reverses it and comes off with a standing flying elbow.

Christian with a Missile Dropkick for a two count. Christian again goes to the top and missed a flying headbutt. Huge lariat by Zeke, which Christian kicks out of. Zeke goes for his Yuinaga but it’s reversed. Christian goes for the Killswitch but it is again reversed to a backbreaker by Zeke. Kick out by Christian.

Christian hits his turnbuckle kick followed by a tornado DDT for a 2 count. Zeke with a Bulldozer. Christian kicks out. Zeke picks Christian up, who goes for a Killswitch. Reversed again and again, finally landing Christian in an Running Powerslam into the turnbuckle.

Christian reverses the Powerslam position into a Killswicth for the pinfall.

Christain celebrates.

Teddy Long and Tiffany backstage, Teddy complementing her on the ECW title match. Cryme Tyme comes in and comes up to Teddy, saying that they should both be in the Rumble as only one of them are allowed in. Teddy refuses but they say that they coerced someone into giving them their spot. Enter Khali. Cryme Tyme says that they will take his spot for a kiss from Tiffany. Khali eventually declines and it moves onto a chorus of “Pants On The Ground”. I am not kidding.

Enter Miz (thank God). Goes on to trash them. Teddy eventually announces that Miz will face MVP for the US title, next.

Cut to Orton sitting alone. Cody enters and says that he’s there for Orton in the title match. Cody then goes on to say that Ted only cares about winning the Rumble match.

 
US Title Match – The Miz (Champion) vs MVP

Miz out followed by MVP. Quick opening with MVP dominating early with a series of one counts, slams, suplexes and whatnot. Miz rolls to the outside where MVP continues to dominate.

MVP throws him back in but is thrown back out, hitting the announce table by Miz after a submission reversal. Miz kicks MVP a few times and throws him back into the ring. Miz drives MVP into the corner with a series of shoulder tackles followed by his corner clothesline.

Miz to the top and comes off with a double axe hammer for a two count. Chin lock by Miz. MVP comes back and hits a flapjack. MVP now back on the offensive and hits Miz with a running knee followed by BALLIN’!

MVP goes for the playmaker but Miz reverses it. Miz receives a Yakuza kick and two count for his troubles. Miz goes for a knee but misses and MVP hits the POOOOUNCE… PERIOD! Two count.

MVP goes for the Driveby but misses. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale but again reverses. Then we go into a series a quick near falls on Miz.

Miz rolls up MVP for the three count. Miz tries to celebrate but gets a Playmaker by MVP. Miz won the match.

Big Show is walking backstage and runs into Jericho. Big Show says Jericho is jealous because Miz is a better partner and whatnot. Jericho says that he made Show and that they still have chemistry. Jericho hopes Show’s loyalty is with him and not Miz, but Show says he’s backing himself. R-Truth then says he’ll throw Jericho out.

Orton is shown walking backstage and runs into Ted. Ted says he has Orton’s back and tries to turn the tables by saying Cody wants to win the Rumble. Orton says that he wants neither of their help and heads to the ring.

WWE Championship Match – Sheamus (Champion) vs Orton

Sheamus out followed by Orton, with his three hour entrance of course.

“Big Match” intros by Justin Roberts.

Sheamus roars (seriously, there was like a two minute span where only this was notable). Headlock followed by a missed dropkick by Orton. They lock up and it’s broken at the ropes. Orton gets a few blows in before an uppercut and arm breaker by Sheamus. Orton rolls to the outside where Sheamus works over Orton. Sheamus slams Orton’s arm into the steps and rolls him into the ring.

Sheamus works over the arm some more. Orton with a chop block to the knee and begins to work over Sheamus’ right leg. Orton gets a two count after a knee drop and goes back to working the leg with a submission. Crowd’s pretty much dead as Sheamus reverses the submission and throws Orton into the ringpost repeatedly, focusing on the shoulder.

Sheamus with multiple shoulder blocks in the corner until Orton reverses and stomps Sheamus on the floor. Orton drags Sheamus to the apron and slams his knee into it followed by ramming it into the ring post. Orton rolls back into the ring as Sheamus gets rolls out. Orton throws him back in.

Orton picks Sheamus up but Sheamus hits a Shoulder breaker for a two count. Sheamus then goes back to the arm with a key lock. Orton battles out to a Yay-Boo punch spot. Orton getting Yay’d. Orton wins out and tries to whip Sheamus but Sheamus hits a swinging back breaker of sorts. Two count.

Sheamus sets Orton up for the Celtec Cross but Orton gets out and kicks Sheamus in the leg and to the outside. Ref begins to count as Sheamus crawls to the apron. Orton catches him with his rope DDT for another two count, with Sheamus grabbing the bottom rope to break the count.

Orton sets up for the Punt but Sheamus rolls to the outside. Orton tries to take Sheamus but gets rammed into the ring post. Cody Rhodes comes from the crowd and attacks Sheamus, who gets back in the ring. Orton hits the RKO on Sheamus but the DQ is called.

Cody tries appologizing but is beat down by Orton, telling him he screwed everything out. Ted saves Cody by pulling Orton off him. Orton then punches Ted down and verbally abuses Legacy. Sheamus setting up for his kick behind Orton, who turns around and eats a big boot. Sheamus leaves them in the ring.

WWE Women’s Championship Match – Michelle McCool (Champion) vs. Mickie James

Michelle out first. She cuts a promo saying that everyone’s there to see her and that Mickie isn’t in the arena because “you’d see her”. You know, cause she’s “fat”. Says Mickie forfeits. Layla comes out dressed as “Piggy James” in the fat suit and snout.

Mickie’s music hits and she runs down and destroys Layla on the outside. She gets in the ring and the bell rings. Layla tries to get in and Michell hits her off the apron by accident. Mickie hits the DDT for the three count and the title.

The Divas come down with a cake and Mickie throws it on Michelle and Layla.

World Heavyweight Championship Match – The Undertaker (Champion) vs Rey Mysterio

Rey out first followed by Taker. Tony Chimmel with the “Big Match” intros.

Rey plays duck and dodge and gets Taker into the corner, connecting with punches until Taker throws Rey over the top to the outside. Rey attempts to reenter the ring but is met by Taker. Rey goes to jump into the ring but Taker punches him, sending him back out.

Taker beats on Rey for a bit then goes for his apron leg drop. Rey rolls out but misses. Taker lands on his feet and elbows Rey. Rey is between the bottom and second rope and this time Taker connects with the apron leg drop.

Rey rolls in and gets up. Taker goes for a chokeslam but it’s reversed to a hurricanrana, setting Taker up for the 619. Rey goes for it but Taker catches Rey into the Tombstone positon. Rey wriggles out. Taker misses a running elbow and Rey goes for a springboard splash but is met with a Big Boot.

Rey rolls to the outside and Taker follows. Another Big Boot by Big Evil. Rey gets up again near the ringpost and Taker yet again goes for a Big Boot but crotches himself on the ring post. Rey then gets in the ring and baseball slides Taker’s leg.

Taker gets up and Rey goes for a Hurricanrana but Taker reverses into a Last Ride setup. Once again reversed as Rey jumps to the apron and hits an Asai Moonsault. Rey back in and goes for another baseball slide but Taker catches him and throws him into the barricade.

Taker rolls Rey back in for a two count. Taker’s nose is bleeding an Lawler calls it. Match is NOT stopped, even though he’s clearly bloody. Taker with an arm submission then throws Rey into the ropes. Taker grinds his elbow into Rey.

Taker beats Rey in the corner followed by a Sideslam for two by Taker. Taker picks Rey up and Rey goes for a series of kicks. Taker punches Rey down. Rey with a jaw jacker. Rey hits a reverse DDT of sorts and Taker sits up. Gets a running drop kick and them drops the dime for a two count. Rey hits the ropes and gets a clothesline.

Taker goes for the Last Ride. Reversed again and Rey hits the 619. Hits a springboard drop kick and hits ANOTHER 619 on the other side. Taker catches him after Rey goes for the hurricanrana and hits a last ride. Taker wins with a pinfall.

Shawn Michaels is seen backstage watching the monitor. Kane is standing next to him saying that he’s obsessed with Taker. Runs down his own Rumble dominance. Kane exits and Hunter enters. Shawn says he was selfish and apologizes for stepping on his dream of going to Mania. Shawn says that he and Taker is meant to be. Hunter says he’ll “find another way”.

Entrant #1 – Dolph Ziggler

Entrant # 2 – Evan Bourne

Bell rings and here we go.

Bourne dominates early. Dolph punches Evan and almost eliminates him with a drop kick. Evan hits his double knee. Evan hits a hurricanrana and Dolph just barely survives. Dolph hits the Zig Zag and tries to throw Bourne out. Instead, he stops him and hits a Shooting Star.

Entrant #3 – CM Punk

Punk takes it to Bourne. Evan hits a kick and goes for Punk but he dodges and hits Dolph. Punk throws Bourne then Ziggler out.

Serena gets a mic and Punk cuts a Straight Edge Society promo. The WWE universe CAN be saved! Says IT’S CLOBBERIN’ TIME!

Entrant #4 – JTG

JTG runs in and takes it to Punk. JTG tries to give Punk corner punches but Punk throws him out and goes back to cutting his promo on people being saved.

Entrant #5 – The Great Khali

Punk says he can save Khali and asks him to save him. Khali chops him and Khali puts in the vice. Countdown.

Entrant #6 – Beth Pheionex!?

She runs down and confronts Khali. He picks her up and gently puts her on the apron. She kisses him on the apron and pulls him out for an elimination.

She then beats down on Punk. She tries to dump him over but Punk gets out and hits a GTS.

Entrant #7 – Zack Ryder

Punk dumps Beth out as Punk gets another mic, saying Ryder has potential. He hits him with the mic and beats him down and tosses him. Punk is dominating this.

Again gets a mic from Serina and asks who’s next. His mouth is bleeding.

Entrant #8 – Triple H

Hunter takes his time as Punk taunts Hunter. Let’s see if Punk can shatter the glass ceiling as Hunter enters the ring.

Hunter takes it to Punk early, punches and knees. Punk goes for his knee/bulldog finisher but Hunter reverses it to a Spinebuster.

Entrant #9 – Drew McIntyer

Drew takes his time as Hunter sets up to face him. Hunter hits him with a knee and tries to hit a Pedigree on Punk. He reverses it to a GTS but Hunter reverses and dumps Punk out.

Drew now working over Hunter as the count down hits.

Entrant #10 – Ted DiBiase

Hunter goes right to Ted. Ted hits a slam on Hunter and now Drew and Ted work over Hunter for a bit. Countdown.

Entrant #11 – John Morrison

Morrison runs down and goes for Ted. Moves onto Drew and culminates it with a DDT. Ted starts to beat down Morrison and sets him up for Dream Street but Morrison hits a back kick. Morrison hits Starship Pain on Drew, followed by Hunter clotheslining Morrison.

Entrant #12 – Kane

Kane’s next, pyro and all. He climbs the top rope and hits a flying clothesline on Hunter then goes after everyone. Kane dominates for a bit and hits a double choke slam on Morrison and Drew, followed by a boot to Hunter and a reverse to Ted. Kane tries to dump Ted out but Hunter saves him. Countdown as Kane hits a chokeslam on Hunter.

Entrant #13 – Cody Rhodes

Cody saves Ted from being dumped out. Cody almost eliminates Morrison but Morrison saves himself, goes for a springboard but meets a drop kick from Cody. Legacy attempts to dump Kane out but Hunter saves him. Triple H throws Cody out but he saves himself and gets back in.

Entrant #14 – MVP

MVP starts to enter but Miz attacks MVP with the US title, leaving him in a heap at the entrance. Morrison hits McIntyer with a springboard kick as MVP is helped to the back by a ref.

Legacy tries to dump Hunter but Kane saves him.

Entrant #15 – Carlito

Carlito comes in right and dominates for a bit until Legacy gets him, but he lays them both out with a sprinboard elbow.

Carlito continues to dominate pretty much everyone in the Rumble and hits a Backstabber on Hunter, McIntyer, and Ted.

Entrant #16 – Miz

Miz comes to play and hits Carlito with a Skull Crushing Finale. MVP comes in and winds up clotheslining he and Miz out of the Rumble. Double elimination!

Kane once again saves Triple H from elimination. Hunter tries to throw Carlito out but he saves himself as the countdown hits.

Entrant #17 – Matt Hardy

Hardy hits the Side Effect and Twist of Fate and goes up to the top. Kane throws him out followed by Kane being eliminated by Hunter.

Hunter now starting to dominate with a series of Spines on the Pines.

Entrant #18 – Shawn Michaels

Shawn comes down and eliminates Carlito immediately followd by Cody and Ted. Then eliminates Morrison. McIntyer downs Shawn. Hunter, McIntyer and HBK down. Triple H and Shawn eliminate McIntyer as the countdown starts.

Entrant #19 – John Cena

DUUUH NUUUH NUUUH NUUUH. Cena runs down and hits a double shoulder block, protobomb, double five knuckle shuffle. Goes to FU Shawn over the top but Hunter saves him and hits a Pedigree. Michaels hits Sweet Chin Music on Hunter, Eliminating him.

Entrant #20 – Shelton Benjamin

Shelton dominates Hunter and Cena for a bit. Shelton goes for his finisher but Cena catches him and throws him out.

Entrant #21 – Yoshi Tatsu

Yoshi comes out to his Happy Fun Music and goes after Shawn and Cena. The party ends when Cena clotheslines him out. Back down to Cena/Michaels who go at it for a bit.

Entrant #22 – The Big Show

Big Show jogs to the ring and gives out a round of headbutts. Show tries to eliminate Shawn and Cena tries to eliminate both. Show brings Shawn back in for an FU from Cena. Shawn misses SCM, almost getting eliminated after being dumped by Cena but skins the cat. All but Show down.

Entrant #23 – Mark Henry

Battle of the big men as Henry and Show go at it. Cena hits a series of shoulder blocks on Show followed by Henry slamming Show. Cena tries to FU Henry but collapses.

Entrant #24 – Chris Masters

Masters takes it to Michaels. Master goes for a Masterlock on Show but Show dumps Masters out. Henry now tries to eliminate Show, and Shawn comes over to help.

Entrant #25 – R-Truth

R-Truth eliminates both Show and Henry. Truth then hits the Axe kick on Cena. Goes back and forth between Shawn and Cena and tries to eliminate Shawn.

Entrant #26 – Jack Swagger

Swagger comes smiling to the ring and goes after everyone, hitting his Vader Splash on Cena and Michaels followed by Suplexes to both. Drives R-Truth into the corner followed by a power slam.

Michaels takes it to Swagger but is almost eliminated.

Entrant #27 – Kofi Kingston

Kofi now dominating the match, being pushed as the favorite as he’s number 27. Hits the boom drop on Swagger. Swagger tries to eliminate Swagger but Swagger gets eliminated. R-Truth almost dumps Kofi out but Kofi saves himself. He then head scissors Truth out of the match.

Entrant #28 – Chris Jericho

Go Jericho Go! Jericho goes for Cena right away and Cena hits an FU. Shawn hits a DDT on Cena then an elbow on Jericho with a “VINTAGE MICHAELS” from Cole. Shawn tunes up the band but Kofi intercepts him with a Trouble in Paradise. Cena then FU’s Kofi out of the ring and Jericho hits a Codebreaker.

Entrant #29 – EDGE

Edge comes out and Spears Jericho and everyone else. Edge eliminates Jericho. Cena goes for an FU but Edge reverses to a DDT. (I’m marking out here, excuse me.)

Shawn goes for Edge and almost gets dumped.

Entrant #30 – Batista

Batista comes out and dominates everyone. Does his Warrior stomp rope shake and gets a Spear for his trouble. Cena hits an FU.

Shawn takes it to Cena and Batista. Shawn hits an elbow on Cena then to Batista. Shawn tunes up the band and hits Sweet Chin Music on both Batista and Cena. Edge and Shawn go to the apron and Michaels Sweet Chins Edge INTO the ring. Batista then comes in and spears Shawn off the apron.

Shawn is delirious about not having his shot at Taker and attacks the ref. He then gets in the ring and is confronted by Charles Robinson, who gets a Sweet Chin Music. Michaels then is talked down and walks to the back in what is essentially a meltdown.

We are down to Batista, Cena and Edge. Batista and Cena go at it. Cena dodges a Batista attack and Batista’s momentum throws him out. Cena waiting at the rope and turns around. Edge misses a Spear, Cena charges Edge and gets eliminated.
