King Mo Lawal Headed To TNA Wrestling

Bellator and TNA will be involved in a joint venture where King Mo Lawal (8-1-1nc) would perform for both companies in 2013. The companies have been rumored to be doing something like this for months, with Bobby Lashley initially rumored for the spot.

The official announcement is expected for today. Lawal, a lifelong pro wrestling fan who always aspired to go into pro wrestling after the Olympics in wrestling, failed to make the 2008 Olympic team. He was courted by WWE before going into MMA, where he found success as the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.

Lawal is currently serving a nine month suspension for testing positive for the steroid Drostanolone after a January win over Lorenz Larkin. Zuffa, following a Twitter rant where Lawal called Pat Lundvall of the Nevada State Athletic Commission a racist bitch, then fired him.

Lawal has had limited training in pro wrestling and most feel that even the best of athletes need a good two years before they are ready to perform at the level expected for a national promotion.

UPDATE: TNA and Bellator have announced that today at 2PM ET, they will be holding a media conference call to announce a major “talent acquisition.”
