Tomasso Ciampa: ‘Kevin Steen Left A Void In ROH’, CHIKARA News

— Tomasso Ciampa appeared on the Blake and Sal Show for a new interview. Check out the highlights:

On working with Kevin Steen in one of his final matches: “You know it was cool. It was kinda like five years in the making. You know even since I walked into Ring of Honor, Kevin and I kinda clicked, never had the chance to actually work with one another inside the ring, in a singles match, so it was cool. It was something that I wasn’t entirely expecting but I was definitely happy to hear about.”

On Kevin Steen leaving ROH: “Clearly he’s one the crowd favorites if not the top guy in the company as far as that goes and he’s done a lot, a lot of memorable matches in the last few years when you think of Kevin Steen being apart of them so it’s a big void that has to be filled. I think we have a lot of talent that’s ready to do so.”

On finally winning the ROH TV Championship: “My mindset going in the whole night through was that this is my chance to kinda make a statement and I really wanted to take the TV title and do something with it that no one’s done before.”

On what he would do to help draw more viewers and fans to ROH: “Just looking as an outsider to it, obviously having a station and time of the week would really make a big difference in my opinion and I don’t know if that’s even possible with the way Sinclair works. But you know it’s easy to say to somebody you know we’re on Fox and we’re on at 9pm on Friday nights or whatever it be, it’s easy because you can tell somebody and they understand it, they could look for you. It’s pretty challenging when you’re trying to tell one area of the globe hey just log onto the web site and telling another area to check in Saturdays at 2am, etc. So if they could ever figure that out that would be amazing.”

On the current indy scene: “This is the most talented I’ve ever seen the scene for the past ten years. Like it’s got to be pretty similar to when I was just starting up and like Joe and Punk and all those guys were just kinda making a name for themselves. Cause it’s true, every where you look, whether it’s you know PWG or AAW or 2CW or AIW, every place is just breaking out with these crazy matches and insane crowds so I think Ring of Honor is the leader of that happening.”

— CHIKARA sent out the following today…

This Saturday in New York We Proudly Present “The Living Daylights”!

CHIKARA will make its way to the Big Apple just once this year, so don’t miss our event this Saturday night at Stage 48! This concert-style event will put you closer to the action than ever before, and many of the evening’s bouts have already been revealed:

In non-title action, our current Campeones de Parejas, The Pieces of Hate (Jigsaw & The Shard) will go head-to-head with former Campeones The Osirian Portal (Ophidian & Amasis) for the very first time, ever!

A much-anticipated rematch from our record-breaking May event (“You Only Live Twice”) has been signed for New York: Chuck Taylor looks to avenge his loss to Ashley Remington! Remington looks to keep his smooth, winning ways intact and sail to victory once again at the expense of the Kentucky Gentleman.

The Spectral Envoy (UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked, Frightmare & Blind Rage) got no justice in Chicago when clashing with Sidney Bakabella’s Wrecking Crew in trios action. Now, the ante has been upped as the action expands to an 8-man tag (Relevos Atomicos), but Bakabella has yet to reveal which of his men will participate in the bout!

One of the newest additions to the CHIKARA roster, Juan Francisco de Coronado will challenge the hard-hitting Eddie Kingston, when these two meet for the very first time! The snobby Ecuadorian will be in for a chilly reception on July 19th when he locks up with one of New York’s favorite sons!

The escalating rivalry between The Colony and The Colony: Xtreme Force yields this much-anticipated singles contest: Silver Ant vs. Missile Assault Ant! These two dished it out in Easton and then again in Chicago, now they get the chance to settle the score one-on-one!
