Roman Reigns and Kane Brawl to Kick-Off RAW in Montreal

This week’s show opens up with highlights of the conclusion of last week’s show. After that, Roman Reigns’ theme music hits, we enter the live arena in Montreal and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show. Justin Roberts does the formal ring introductions as Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring through the crowd. Cole also informs us that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are not here tonight, as they are on vacation.

Reigns starts off talking about how Triple H probably thinks adding him to the fatal four-way match at the Battleground pay-per-view will probably help nullify John Cena. He says he can if he wants. He says they probably think it will result in Randy Orton leaving as champion — but it won’t. The fans chant “Cena Sucks.” Reigns stares at the crowd trying to find out what they’re chanting. He finally says “when Roman Reigns is in the house, you damn right Cena sucks.”

Kane’s pyro explodes just as Reigns guarantees everyone he’ll become the new champion at Battleground. Reigns asks if Kane is in charge because The Authority isn’t here because lately it seems like he’s just Randy Orton’s bitch. The fans pop for that line.

Kane heard enough and he and Reigns go at it. The fight spills out to the floor and Reigns is taking it to “The Devil’s Favorite Demon.” Kane gets the upper-hand as the action returns to the ring. A ton of referees come down to break things up. Eventually they do. Reigns, however, spears one of the officials and then hits Kane, who was standing on the apron, with a Superman punch. Reigns’ music hits and the crowd pops.

What’s On Tap For Tonight …

The announcers promote the fact that Bret Hart is here in Montreal tonight. They also plug the Chris Jericho vs. Miz match, and tonight’s main event between John Cena and Seth Rollins. We head to our first commercial break of the evening.

Luke Harper & Erick Rowan vs. The Usos

We’re back from the break and we see Luke Harper and Erick Rowan already standing in the ring. Out next are the WWE Tag-Team Champions, The Usos.

The bell rings and Uso and Harper kick things off for their respective teams. Uso gets the better of the early exchanges. Jey tags in Jimmy. The two knock Harper and Rowan out to the floor.

Back in the ring, Harper takes it to Uso in the corner. Harper beats down Uso a bit and then tags in Rowan. Rowan picks up where Harper left off, taking it to Uso in the corner of the ring.

A dueling “let’s go Wyatt’s” and “let’s go Usos” chant breaks out in Montreal as Rowan continues to deliver some punishment to Jimmy. Rowan misses a big leg drop, which allows Jimmy to make the tag to Jey.

Jey comes in and takes it to Rowan early, but a Harper distraction allows the Sheep-wearing Wyatt member to regain control of the offense. He establishes control a bit and then tags Harper in.

Harper puts the boots to Uso for just a few seconds before tagging Rowan right back in. Rowan hits a big splash on Uso for a near fall. We head to commercial on that note.

When we return from the break, we see Rowan taking it to Uso in the middle of the ring. A loud, random “CM Punk” chant breaks out as the pace picks up inside the ring.

The action really picks up now, as after a bunch of interference, The Usos score a super-close near fall that the fans absolutely bought into. In fact, the announcers even seemed confused as to whether or not the referee counted to three. This leads to some “This is awesome” chants.

The Usos go to hit a double-dive on Harper on one side of the ring, but when they hit the ropes, Rowan pulls one of them out to the floor. The other Uso turns and baseball slide-kicks Rowan, only to turn around into a big boot from Harper. 1-2-3. The Wyatt’s pick up the victory.

Winners: Luke Harper & Erick Rowan

Backstage: Kane, Randy Orton & Seth Rollins

Backstage, we see Kane and Randy Orton. Orton tells Kane that if Roman Reigns had done one more thing, he would have come out to help, just like he knows Kane will help him at Battleground. Seth Rollins comes in and promises that if Kane or Orton wins the title, he’ll think twice about cashing in his briefcase. Rollins leaves. Orton tells Kane he’s really starting to hate that kid. Kane says not as much as I’m starting to hate you (talking to Orton). We head to commercial.

One Hand Tied Behind Their Back
Nikki Bella vs. Alicia Fox

When we return from commercial, Justin Roberts announces that “per orders of The Authority” the next match will feature each person with one hand tied behind their back. Nikki Bella’s music hits and out she comes to the ring. Already in the ring is her opponent, Alicia Fox.

Highlights are shown of Brie Bella slapping Stephanie McMahon at the Payback pay-per-view after she “quit.” The referee ties Nikki’s hand behind her back. The ref goes to tie Fox’s hand behind her back, but Fox keeps screwing around.

Ultimately, Fox runs from the ref before he can tie her hand. She goes over and attacks Nikki, who does have one hand tied behind her back. The fans are chanting something, it sounds like they’re saying “boring” but it’s hard to make out.

The action spills out to the floor, where Fox continues to deliver additional punishment to the one-handed identical twin. She rolls her back in the ring as the “boring” chants escalate.

Back in the ring, Nikki tries fighting back with her one arm, but ultimately Alicia Fox — with two hands — is too much for her to handle.

Fox goes outside the ring and goes under the ring to grab something. It looks like two Red Bulls. She cracks them open, sprays them all over Nikki and stomps away. That’s it. Not sure who “wins,” but I know who lost — anyone who sat through all of that just now! We head to commercial.

Winner: No Contest

Rusev (with Lana) vs. Rob Van Dam

When we return from commercial, Rusev’s music is playing as we see he and Lana standing in the ring. Lana cuts her typical pro-Russian, anti-everyone else (since we’re in Canada and not the U.S. this week) promo until she is cut off by Rob Van Dam’s theme song.

RVD makes his way to the ring for what one would assume is a one-on-one match with Rusev. Indeed it is. The bell rings and here we go.

Van Dam uses his quickness and agility early on to score a decent amount of offense before Rusev turns the tide and begins his one-sided beatdown. During said-beatdown, we see a split-screen shot of a pre-taped interview with Zeb Colter. Colter basically challenges Rusev.

RVD tries fighting back, but Rusev catches him coming off the ropes and power slams him down to the mat. Van Dam manages to get a couple of kicks in, including a big karate kick off of the top rope.

Van Dam goes for Rolling Thunder, but Rusev moves out of the way and stands up. When RVD turns around, he walks into a big super-kick from Rusev. Lana tells Rusev to “crush,” so he obliges and locks Van Dam into The Accolade. RVD has no choice but to tap out.

Winner: Rusev

Coming Up Next …

Backstage, we see Randy Orton making his way to the ring. Jerry Lawler informs us that he will be in one-on-one action after the break against Dean Ambrose. On that note, we head to another commercial.

Randy Orton vs. Dean Ambrose

When we return from commercial, highlights of tonight’s opening segment between Roman Reigns and Kane is shown. From there, Randy Orton’s theme music hits. “The Viper” makes his way to the ring. Out next is Dean Ambrose, who receives a great reaction from the Montreal fans.

The bell rings and here we go. Early on, Ambrose, who still has his shoulder heavily taped up to sell the injuries from his attack a few weeks ago, controls the action. Ambrose seems to be focusing his early attack on the arm of Orton.

Ambrose remains in control for a few minutes, but eventually Orton slows down his momentum with a big clothesline. From there, Orton is comfortably in control of the offense. Orton takes a break from beating down Ambrose to taunt the crowd. While doing so, however, Ambrose knocks Orton out of the ring. We head to a mid-match commercial on that note.

When we return from commercial, Orton is in control of Ambrose, hitting a picture-perfect dropkick. We’re told by the announcers that Orton has been in control throughout the commercial break. The fans are trying to rally around Ambrose, who is getting his “injured” shoulder beaten on by “The Viper.”

Ambrose starts fighting back, but due to a clear case of miscommunication, delivers a huge botched spot, coming off the top ropes and literally doing nothing as Orton simply turned his back and moved forward, out-of-range of Ambrose. Something like that. Whatever happened, it looked awful and resulted in a huge “you f’d up” chant and a ton of over-explaining from the announcers.

Ambrose flips out moments later and throws about ten chairs in the ring. Orton goes for the draped-DDT on Ambrose but Ambrose reverses into a pin attempt. Orton kicks out at two. Out of nowhere, Orton hits an RKO on Ambrose and scores the clean pin.

Winner: Randy Orton

Renee Young Interviews John Cena, Roman Reigns Interupts

Backstage, Renee Young is with John Cena. She asks what it’s like knowing he has a target on his back now that he’s the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Cena talks about how he’s always had a target on his back.

As he’s continuing to talk, Roman Reigns enters the picture. Cena tells Reigns, “tough words out there tonight, homes.” Reigns replies, “you’re gonna need a ton of luck when you face me in the fatal four-way, homes.” He walks off. We head to commercial.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler

When we return from commercial, we head back to the ring for one-on-one action between Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler. Fandango joins Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and JBL on commentary.

Del Rio takes an early offensive lead in the contest, taking it to Ziggler here in the beginning portion of the bout. At one point, Del Rio throws Ziggler out to the floor, but Ziggler gets caught in between the apron-cover and the apron.

Back in the ring, Del Rio continues to take it to Ziggler as Fandango talks in a monotone on commentary. Del Rio hits a huge high spot off the top rope on Ziggler for a believable near fall.

Ziggler gets a hope spot for a near fall and now both guys are down. Back up, Del Rio is going back at Ziggler, but Ziggler hits a dropkick out of the blue and now both guys are down selling again.

In the end, Del Rio ends up hitting Ziggler with his semi-finisher for a 1-2-3, earning himself the right to face Sheamus for the United States Championship. After the match, Fandango dances on the announcers table as JBL, Cole and Lawler complani.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

Backstage: Goldust & Stardust

Backstage, we see Stardust and Goldust in a darkly lit room as their theme music plays. Stardust talks like a goofball and then in walks Goldust, revealing that the wig we saw from behind, that we assumed was Goldust, was actually just a wig. Goldust and Cody talk about how crazy they are. As Cody keeps talking the camera pans away. When it returns, the wig appears again and this time Goldust is wearing it. We head to commercial.

Backstage: Fandango, Layla & Summer Rae Love Triangle Continues

When we return from commercial, we see Fandango walking backstage. Layla walks up to him and asks him what just happened out there. She asks if Fandango is jealous because Dolph and Summer kissed recently. Layla talks about being jealous of Summer. Fandango puts her mind at ease and hugs her. As he does, we see his eyes widen. The camera pans over and we see Summer Rae modeling in the door way.

Bret Hart Punches Out …Bret Hart?

Back live in the arena, Jerry Lawler is in the ring. He introduces Bret “The Hitman” Hart. Hart comes out to a huge response from the Montreal fans.

The fans chant “thank you, Bret!” and he replies by saying “Thank you” in French. He says it’s an honor to be back in Montreal. Bret says if he could lace up his boots just one more time and have one more match, it would be right here in Montreal. He says the fans are giving him goosebumps.

As he continues to talk, he is interupted by his own music. Out comes Damien Sandow dressed up like Bret Hart. I just popped, as did Ryan Clark in the other room.

Sandow talks as if he were Bret, and talks about how he tapped out to “his own” move to “his idol” Shawn Michaels in Montreal.

As he continues to talk, Bret decks Sandow with a huge punch that knocks him out of the ring and out to the floor. Sheamus comes out and we’re informed that Sandow will face him after the break. We head to commercial.

Sheamus vs. Damien Sandow

When we return from commercial, Sheamus is beating down “Damien Sand-hart” in the middle of the ring. This continues for a bit until Sandow finally gets in some offense.

Sandow is eventually cut short by Sheamus, but only temporarily, as he regains control of the offense. He does a lot of Bret Hart trademark spots and moves, but ultimately, eats a Brogue Kick from Sheamus for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Sheamus

The Miz Reads A Letter From Little Johnny Russo

Backstage, Renee Young is with The Miz. Miz reads a letter from a fan who talked about wanting to see The Miz return last week, only to be upset when it was Chris Jericho who showed up to ruin his big return. Miz talks about what would happen to this company, and what the fans would lose, if something happened to The Miz’s face. We head to commercial.

Chris Jericho vs. The Miz

When we return from commercial, Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring to a huge pop. Out next is his opponent for tonight, The Miz.

The bell rings and here we go. The fans immediately break out into loud “Y-2-J” chants. Jericho establishes offensive dominance early on in this match, but Miz eventually dumps him out to the floor to slow down his momentum.

Back in the ring, The Miz takes it to Jericho. Jericho starts making an early comeback. Miz tries to throw him out to the floor again, but this time Jericho holds on and lands on the apron. He leap-frogs back into the ring and splashes onto The Miz.

Jericho goes to follow up, however Miz cuts him off and is now back in control of the match. Miz locks Jericho in the figure four leg lock, but Jericho makes it to the ropes, forcing Miz to break the hold. Miz gets up and starts stomping away at the leg of Jericho. Jericho, out of the blue, scoops Miz’s legs out from underneath him and locks him in the Walls Of Jericho. Miz taps out.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Bray Wyatt Sends A Message To Chris Jericho

After the match, The Wyatt Family cut-in happens. The arena goes dark. When the lights come back on, Bray Wyatt is sitting in his rocking chair. He mockingly tells Jericho that we’re all waiting for him to “save us.” He said he proved that actions speak louder than words. Bray even mocks Jericho’s “never, eeeeever” line.

As Bray goes to sing, Jericho cuts him off and says “would you please shut the hell up.” Jericho says, “quiet, Wyatt.” He agrees that actions speak louder than words. Jericho says it’s just you and me, he’s going to prove it with his actions.

Jericho goes up the ramp to attack Bray and The Wyatt Family cut-in happens again. When the lights come back on, Harper and Rowan are at Bray’s side. Jericho thinks twice about coming up the ramp now. We head to commercial on that note.

The Funkadactyls vs. Paige & AJ Lee

When we return from commercial, The Funkadactyls make their way to the ring for scheduled Divas tag-team action. Out next is former WWE Divas Champion Paige. She takes the mic from Justin Roberts and introduces her own tag-tema partner, AJ Lee. Apparently they’re friends now.

The bell rings and here we go. The match basically has Cameron at ringside while Naomi does all of the work in the ring. When Naomi needs to make a tag, Cameron is nowhere to be found, as she’s busy putting on makeup and whatnot on the apron.

Eventually, Cameron does tag into the match and within seconds eats a Paige-Turner from Paige for the 1-2-3. AJ Lee and Paige win their tag-team debut.

Winners: Paige & AJ Lee

After The Match: Trouble In Paradise

After the match, The Funkadactyls finally go at it. Cameron and Naomi grab a handful of each other’s hair and a cat fight ensues. Cameron walks off with a mean look on her face while Naomi stares her down from ringside. We head to a commercial.

Cesaro (with Paul Heyman) vs. Kofi Kingston

When we return from commercial, Paul Heyman and Cesaro are shown in the ring after highlights of Cesaro freaking out on Kofi Kingston last week are shown. Heyman starts off with his typical stuff, bragging about Brock Lesnar breaking Undertaker’s streak. As he goes to talk about Cesaro and build him up, Cesaro tells Paul that they can’t speak to them in English.

Cesaro goes on to talk about some inter-rivalry between Canadian and French Canadian states? Something, who knows. He said one line in a different language that the crowd semi-reacted to.

Anyways, Kofi Kingston’s music hits and out he comes as the announcers put over some more the fact that he beat Cesaro last week during a commercial break on RAW. Cesaro immediately takes the early lead in this match.

Kofi, who has somewhat new-style tights on, gets manhandled by Cesaro with ease just as he was starting to get in a little bit of offense. Out of the complete blue, Kingston scores a pin on Cesaro. Two weeks in a row.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

After The Match: Cesaro Attacks, Big E. Saves

After the match, Cesaro, shocked that he lost again, begins to demolish Kingston once more. He is ultimately cut off by Big E., who runs in to make the save for Kingston and sends Cesaro and Heyman back-peddaling up the ramp.

Backstage: John Cena & Seth Rollins Exchange Words

Backstage, we see John Cena. Seth Rollins walks in. Rollins tells him to calm down. He knows they’re in a match tonight, but they can still talk like civilized people. Rollins threatens Cena about the possibility of cashing in his contract tonight. And if he doesn’t, Cena’s day is still coming. Cena tells Rollins he’s full of crap. We head to commercial.

El Torito vs. Bo Dallas

When we return from commercial, El Torito is in the ring. Out next is Bo Dallas. Dallas cuts one of his inspirational promos before the match, talking about how he’s willing to take on all-comers.

The bell rings and it looks like we’ve got Bo Dallas vs. El Torito in one-on-one action. Dallas basically squashes El Torito for two minutes and then pins him. After the match, he does his usual victory lap. We head to another commercial break.

Winner: Bo Dallas

John Cena vs. Seth Rollins

When we return from commercial, after a preview of episode one of the new WWE Network documentary series “The Monday Night War,” which debuts tonight after RAW, John Cena’s music hits.

The WWE World Heavyweight Champion makes his way to the ring. Out next is his opponent for tonight’s RAW main event, Seth Rollins. The bell rings and here we go with tonight’s headline attraction in the ring.

Rollins eats a few shots from Cena early on, who can be heard off-mic telling Rollins “this is the big time.” It isn’t long, however, before Rollins is in firm control of the offense in the match. We head to commercial as Michael Cole questions whether or not tonight is the night Rollins cashes in his briefcase.

When we return from commercial, Rollins is in firm control of Cena. Seconds later, Cena starts making his comeback. The crowd boo’s like crazy. As it turns out, Kane’s pyro explodes and it looks like we’re getting a non-finish.

Kane hits the ring, but before he does, Orton appears out of nowhere and attacks Cena from behind. He and Kane beat down Cena as Rollins teases cashing in his briefcase. Before he can, however, out comes Dean Ambrose to attack him. All hell breaks loose. The show ends with Reigns and Cena raising each other’s hands high in the air.
