Paul Heyman, John Cena Open Up This Week’s Show

The WWE Night Of Champions “go-home” edition of RAW opens up this week with Paul Heyman standing in the middle of the ring. He says he’s going to show us a preview of what’s going to happen this Sunday at Night Of Champions. As he mocks John Cena, he is interrupted by Cena’s theme.

Cena makes his way to the ring. He asks Heyman where Brock Lesnar is in a goofy, jovial-Cena fashion. He reminds us that he’s either fighting Lesnar tonight, or he’s fighting Heyman. Heyman tells Cena if that’s what he wants, that’s what he’s going to get. He pretends to introduce Lesnar but he doesn’t show up. Heyman laughs and informs us that Lesnar’s private plane has been delayed, but that he will be here later tonight.

Heyman turns to leave all proud of himself but Cena grabs him by the scruff of his neck. Cena says in about 80 minutes, give-or-take 10 minutes, if Lesnar isn’t here, simply put, he’s going to kick Paul Heyman’s ass. He lets Heyman go and Heyman says okay, he’ll let you know when Brock gets here.

As Heyman exits the ring, Cena runs around him and cuts him off in the aisle. Cena says he doesn’t trust Heyman. He says he promised the fans in the Cajundome, the site of tonight’s RAW, that they will get a fight. He grabs Heyman in a headlock and drags him back to the locker room. That ends this week’s RAW opener.

Backstage: Update On Cena & Heyman

When we return from commercial, courtesy of the WWE App, we see Cena dragging Heyman backstage. He throws him in his locker room and calls over The Great Khali. He tells Khali not to let Heyman out of his dressing room. Khali stands guard as Cena walks off.

Chris Jericho vs. Kane

Chris Jericho’s theme hits and he out comes with his light-up jacket. Michael Cole informs us that Jericho is in action against “Corporate Kane” next. We head to our first commercial break of the evening.

After the segment with Cena, Heyman and Khali, we see Jericho in the ring waiting. Kane’s theme hits and he makes his way down to the ring for our first match of the evening.

The bell rings and here we go. Jericho takes the early offensive lead in the match, knocking Kane out to the floor. He goes up to the top rope and flies off, splashing onto Kane on the floor. He runs at Kane on the floor to follow-up, but Kane catches him coming in with a big shot. He slams Jericho back-first into the ring apron and rolls him back inside.

Kane goes for a pin attempt once they return to the ring but Jericho kicks out at two. Kane seems to be in control of the offense, but Jericho starts fighting back. He drops Kane with a dropkick and starts putting the boots to him in the middle of the ring.

Corporate Kane finally takes control of the match and slams Y2J down to the mat. He throws him out to the floor and taunts the fans. We see Jericho laid out on the floor outside of the ring as we head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, Kane is still in firm control of the offense of this match. He remains in control for a while but eventually Jericho starts making his comeback. Kane cuts him short. Kane takes the turnbuckle pading off of one of the corners. This leads to Jericho drop-toe-holding Kane face-first into the exposed turnbuckle for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Backstage: Paul Heyman Can’t Reach Brock Lesnar

Backstage, we see Paul Heyman on a cell phone. He’s trying to get a hold of Brock Lesnar but apparently Lesnar’s phone has bad reception because he can’t hear Heyman. Heyman looks worried that Lesnar won’t make it to the show in time for the cut-off point that Cena gave him earlier. We head to commercial.

Announcers Hype Rusev/Mark Henry Feud

We return from commercial to see a “Did You Know?” about SmackDown. They then talk about the Rusev and Mark Henry feud, leading to clips from SmackDown of the arm-wrestling contest between the two. They then promote a “Mark Henry Rallies America” segment for later tonight. The first of what appears to be a series of taped vignettes airs with some Olympian dude encouraging Henry to beat up Rusev.

Backstage: Renee Young With Roman Reigns

Backstage, Renee Young introduces Roman Reigns. She talks about how he was part of the dominant faction called The Shield. She then shows clips of the night Seth Rollins turned on he and Dean Ambrose. She talks about how he has the chance to finally face Seth Rollins one-on-one tonight. He talks about how Rollins always has a plan. He says everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth, which is what he’s going to do to Rollins tonight — over and over again.

Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) vs. Bo Dallas

As Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger make their way to the ring, the RAW commentary team promote Steve Austin’s podcast, which features Kevin Nash this week. We head to commercial as Swagger and Colter enter the ring.

When we return from commercial, Bo Dallas makes his way to the ring for this one-on-one contest against “The Real American.” Swagger jumps off to an early lead, however it isn’t long before Dallas is in control of the offense.

Dallas dominates Swagger for several minutes as the announcers bicker and make lame jokes on commentary about Colter and old historical U.S. references until finally Swagger starts making his comeback.

Swagger goes for the Swagger Bomb but Dallas chokes him on the top rope for a near fall that the crowd bought into. The fans are doing a dueling “we the people / we bo-lieve” chant. Pretty funny stuff.

“The Real American” goes for The Patriot Lock but Dallas avoids it. Dallas goes for the Running Bo-Dog but Swagger avoids it and reverses it back into The Patriot Lock. Dallas taps out. After the match, we head to commercial.

Winner: Jack Swagger

Paige & Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella & AJ Lee

When we return from commercial, WWE Divas Champion Paige is hopping around the ring. Her partner, Nikki Bella, is out next. During her entrance, the announcers promote this Sunday’s triple-threat match for the Divas Championship. After their entrances, Brie Bella makes her way to the ring to her new theme song and then finally, AJ Lee makes her way to the ring.

The bell rings and here we go. Nikki Bella and Brie Bella start things off for their respective teams. Well, nevermind. Brie goes after Nikki and Nikki quickly turns and runs to her corner, tagging in the Divas Champion.

Paige blasts Brie with a big kick and then skips and hops around the ring, AJ Lee-style. She continues to punish her and when Brie tries to make the tag, Nikki yanks AJ off the apron, leaving Brie alone to continue getting beaten down by Paige. This action sets up the pin for Paige after the Ram-Paige finisher for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Paige & Nikki Bella

After The Match

After the match, Nikki hits Brie with her finisher and leaves. Paige skips around the ring with the title in the ring while we see AJ outside the ring skipping around. They keep stopping their skipping to stare at each other.

Backstage: Bray Wyatt Promo

Backstage we see a close-up shot of Bray Wyatt’s face and giant beard in a dark room. He cuts a typical Bray Wyatt-style promo, where you can only “sorta-kinda” understand what he’s talking about and what his analogies/references actually mean. He’s talking about Big Show, by the way. He ends by saying …you guessed it, “Follow The Buzzards.”

Backstage: Paul Heyman & The Great Khali

When we return from commercial, we see Khali guarding Cena’s locker room, where Heyman is trapped. Heyman comes out of the door and tries begging off Khali to allow him to leave “just to make a phone call” to Lesnar. Khali won’t let him and instead, grabs Heyman’s phone and smashes it, before throwing Heyman back in the room and shutting the door. He remains guard.

Big Show vs. Bray Wyatt

After Wyatt’s goofy-ass promo, Big Show’s theme hits and he makes his way to the ring. We see another shot of Paul Heyman looking nervous as we head to commercial. Big Show vs. Bray Wyatt is up next.

Following the backstage Heyman-Khali segment written about above, we shoot to the titan tron where we see Bray. “Cajundome, we’re here!” Wyatt, with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan by his side, make their way to the ring where Big Show awaits them.

Harper and Rowan remain at ringside as Wyatt enters the squared-circle. The bell rings and Show immediately goes to work on Wyatt. Show whoops up on Wyatt for a few seconds but then Wyatt utilizes his speed advantage to overtake control of the offense.

Wyatt is now going to work on the big man as the fans chant “let’s go Big Show” and then the other fans in the arena go against them with “let’s go Wyatt” chants.

Harper and Rowan interfere but Show fights them off. Wyatt attacks Show, but Show gets the better of him as well. Now Harper and Rowan are back in the ring and the ref has seen enough.

Winner via DQ: Big Show

After The Match

Show hits a double-chokeslam on Harper and Rowan. He turns around to deliver punishment to Wyatt as well, but he sees Bray sitting in his rocking chair at ringside laughing. That ends this match/segment and we head to another commercial break.

The Usos & Sheamus vs. Cesaro, Goldust & Stardust

The WWE Tag-Team Champions, The Usos, make their way to the ring. Out next is the WWE United States Champion, Sheamus. It’s time for six-man tag-team action here on RAW. Out next, first up, is Sheamus’ challenger for this Sunday’s WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view, Cesaro. He stops mid-way down the ramp by his tag-team partners for tonight, The Usos’ title challengers for Sunday, Goldust and Stardust — The Dust Brothers.

The bell rings and here we go. Sheamus and Goldust start things off for their teams. Sheamus immediately takes the early offensive lead in the match. Sheamus knocks Goldust out of the ring and Goldust regroups with his goofy ass brother, Stardust, before coming back in the ring and shoving Sheamus. Sheamus knocks Goldust on his butt and then tags in Jey Uso. This is the Uso that has the knee injury, as the announcers point out.

Goldust tags in Stardust and now Uso is going to work on him. Stardust cuts Uso short and puts the boots to him before tagging in Cesaro. Cesaro grabs Uso and does the clubbing blows-forearm spot that Sheamus normally does. Afterwards, he tags Goldust back in. Goldust picks up where Cesaro left off and the heel trio are firmly in control at this point. We head to a mid-match commercial on that note.

When we return from commercial, the heels are still dominating, as Cesaro is taking it to Uso in the middle of the ring. The heel teams begins utilizing quick tags to keep fresh men on the beaten down Uso as they remain in total control of this six-man tag-team match here on RAW.

Cesaro mocks Sheamus on the apron one time too many while dominating Uso, as it nearly backfires as Uso came within inches of making the tag. Seconds later, Uso drops Goldust with a big kick and is now looking to make the tag to Sheamus. And he does.

The crowd pops as Sheamus takes the hot tag. The Celtic Warrior enters the ring and is nailing anything that moves. He grabs Cesaro and does the clubbing-blow forearm spot that Cesaro mockingly did earlier to taunt him. Sheamus even climbs to the top rope and hits a flying battering ram on all of the heels on the outside of the ring.

All hell breaks loose now and everyone is in the ring. Each guy takes turns hitting their finishing moves on the others, ending with Uso hitting a big splash on Cesaro for the 1-2-3. We head to commercial.

Winners: The Usos & Sheamus

Killing Time

Killing time while waiting for the NFL game to go to halftime, WWE airs what seemed like a billion pre-taped promotional vignettes, commentary from the announcers about seemingly nothing, clips from last week’s RAW, a pointless interview with Randy Orton, etc. We head to commercial and upon one change of the channel on my television set, we see NFL go to halftime. And what do ya know!

In-Ring Segment: John Cena, Paul Heyman & Brock Lesnar

We return from commercial on WWE and we immediately see Cena grab Heyman from his dressing room and drag him out to the ring.

Heyman basically tells Cena to become a bully and hit him, because it’s going to take a bully to beat Lesnar. He says he knows Cena isn’t a bully and that’s why he’s going to lose. Cena won’t hit him. He lets Heyman go but then Heyman says something about Cena’s parents so he throws Heyman out of the ring.

With that said, Brock Lesnar’s theme hits and out walks “The Beast Incarnate.” Lesnar and Heyman walk around the ring slowly as Cena stands in the ring challenging Lesnar to come in and fight him.

Lesnar and Heyman go to leave as Heyman smiles. The fans actually start chanting “Cena, Cena” as the two stop and Cena stares them down from the ring. Lesnar walks towards the ring as if he was going to fight him but instead turns around.

But not so fast! Lesnar and Heyman turn around again and start walking towards the ring. Lesnar hands Heyman his title and walks back towards the ring. He jumps up on the apron and looks ready to fight. As he goes to walk through the ropes, Cena attacks him.

It isn’t long, however, before Lesnar hits a monsterous throw-style suplex on Cena, similar to the 20-or-so he hit him with at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. Cena goes flying out to the floor. We see Heyman holding up the title outside the ring as Lesnar walks away.

Cena attacks Lesnar from out of nowhere and now the fight spills out to the floor. Cena slams Lesnar into the barricade and the two crash onto the mat outside the ring and the fight is fully on, folks! Cena is on top of Lesnar pounding away as the announcers go nuts.

Security rushes to the ring and break Cena and Lesnar apart. Lesnar keeps grabbing his nose like he thinks it’s bleeding, but no blood is showing. The officials hold Cena back as Lesnar walks over to Heyman and grabs his title. He hangs it over his shoulder and he and Heyman walk up the ramp and towards the back, with Lesnar turning to look at Cena. We over-hear Cena saying, “see you Sunday, Brock!” as the announcers mention that Lesnar’s nose is broken.

Cena’s theme song hits and he breaks free from security, goes back in the ring and celebrates to the crowd as the announcers do one more strong, hard-sell for Sunday’s WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view. We head to commercial.

Naomi vs. Cameron

We’re back from the break and it’s time for Divas action. Naomi and Cameron are in the ring. Cameron held a mirror in front of her face during her entrance. Anyways, here we go with what is likely going to be a trainwreck.

Just before the bell, we see highlights from this past Sunday’s Total Divas where the two talk about The Funkadactyls breaking up. The bell sounds and here we go.

The two just scrap and throw hands and pull hair like a legitimate chick bar-fight early on. When the smoke clears, Cameron is in control. She knocks Naomi out to the floor and taunts her and the fans while she sells outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Naomi finds herself on the receiving end of additional punishment from her former tag-team partner. The fans chant “JBL,” ignoring this match completely. Meanwhile, Cameron continues to beat up Naomi and taunt her along the way.

After dominating Naomi some more in what has legitimately been a basic squash match, Naomi finally locks Cameron in her submission finisher and Cameron taps out. Naomi picks up the submission victory. We head to commercial.

Winner: Naomi

The Miz & Damien Sandow vs. Dolph Ziggler & R-Truth (aka R-Ziggler)

When we return, we see The Miz and Damien Sandow as his Damien Mizdow alter-ego. Out next is Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth, who is dressed up like Ziggler and even does his entrance the same as Ziggler, alongside the I-C champ. Tag-team action is up next on RAW.

The bell rings and here we go. Ziggler and Sandow kick things off for their teams, respectively. Early on, Ziggler takes the offensive lead in this tag-team contest. The announcers are legitimately pretending that they can’t tell the difference between Ziggler and R-Truth. They’re pretending to be confused as to which one is in the ring at certain times, etc. It’s just as ridiculous as it reads people, trust me.

This continues on commentary throughout the entire match, literally. The entire match is based on commentary jokes about confusion over which one is Ziggler and which one is Truth. Unfortunately, other than the scripted comedy spots these guys are doing during the match, it has been — athletically speaking — a decent little bout. In the end, Ziggler hits the Zig-Zag for the win.

Winners: Dolph Ziggler & R-Ziggler

Backstage: Seth Rollins Interview

Backstage, Seth Rollins is interviewed. He is shown clips from last week’s RAW and the cage match main event. Afterwards, he calls Roman Reigns a gifted athlete but said he’s nothing compared to him. He does an impression of Reigns, physically, comparing him to a gorilla. He literally knelt down and pretended to be a gorilla. This week’s show is something else, foilks! Definitely makes me want to buy Night Of Champions, that’s for damn sure! (#Sarcasm). In the end, he says he’s the future and the next champ. We head to commercial.

Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins

When we return from commercial, Roman Reigns is making his way to the ring through the crowd. Out next is “Mr. Money In The Bank” himself, Seth Rollins. The bell rings and here we go.

Straight out of the gate, Reigns is in firm control of this match. Reigns is beating Rollins from one side of the ring to the other. He nails Rollins over the top and onto the floor and slams him face-first onto the ring steps.

Reigns continues to beat up Rollins outside the ring. He throws Rollins over the announce table and rolls back into the ring to clear the referee’s count. He heads back out of the ring and goes to get his hands on Rollins as we head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, Rollins is now in control of the action. This continues for a while until Reigns finally begins making his comeback. The two battle back-and-forth until Rollins goes for the Curb Stomp. As he goes to nail Reigns with it, Reigns avoids it and blasts Rollins with a spear for the 1-2-3 and the victory. After the match we head to a commercial break.

Winner: Roman Reigns

In-Ring Segment: Mark Henry, Rusev & Lana

We return from commercial and we see Michael Cole in the ring. He introduces Mark Henry. Henry gets on the mic with Cole and promises that this Sunday he’s going to shut Lana and Rusev up.

As he continues to talk, he is cut off by Lana and Rusev. The two make their way to the ring with Rusev carrying the Russian flag.

Lana introduces a “visual aid” to prove that Russia is superior to America. That picture is shown, which is some Russian beating out Henry for his spot in the Olympics.

Lana makes a pledge about who’s winning on Sunday. Henry says he wants to make a pledge. He begins doing the “Pledge of Alegience,” but is stopped when Rusev attacks him. Henry fights back briefly, but Rusev ends up beating him down.

Rusev puts the boots (or bare feet, in his case) to him in the middle of the ring and then slaps on The Accolade hold on him. Henry begins powering his way out of it as the fans chant “U.S.A.” to rally behind him. Henry eventually does power out of it and the announcers sell it as the biggest thing that ever happened. Henry slams Rusev down and the fans pop. Rusev waives the American flag and after tons of speculation and guessing between me and my friends, the Night Of Champions “go-home” edition of RAW actually ends with a Henry-Rusev segment.

Wow. Just f*cking WOW. That was ridiculously bad for the GO-HOME SHOW for WWE Night of Champions. Holy hell man ….
