“Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event…”

WWE RAW Season Premiere Is Underway!

The “season premiere” of WWE RAW opens with a shot inside the arena where the focus is on the steel cage hanging above the ring. Michael Cole promotes the fact that the Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt match kicks off this week’s show. From there, we watch a pre-taped video package that promotes Jerry Springer’s appearance tonight with The Bella Twins, as well as the aforementioned cage match and the Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton rematch from SummerSlam. Also, they highlight the Brock Lesnar and John Cena program, promising that Paul Heyman has a message for the leader of the Cenation.

Steel Cage Match
– Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

After the video package, we return live inside the arena in Baltimore, Maryland, where Chris Jericho’s music hits. Jericho makes his way to the ring with his goofy-ass light-up jacket as Justin Roberts does the formal introductions inside the ring. After that, Bray Wyatt appears on the titan tron with the latern. “Baltimore, we’re here!” says the leader of The Wyatt Family. From there, the “fire flies” light up the building (fans with cell phones lighting up the arena) as Bray and his henchmen, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, make their way to the ring.

The cage is lowered and is covering the ring. The “Y2J” chants immediately break out. Jericho is already in the ring, Bray is outside the ring circling the cage. He finally enters and the bell rings to make our opening match of the evening official.

Jericho plants a dropkick right on the kisser of The Wyatt Family leader and then launches him throat first into the bottom rope. Bray gets Jericho on one side of the ring and then rushes to the other side, demandinng that the cage door be open. Jericho stops him. The fans in Baltimore are loud as hell now, doing some dueling chants. “Y2J” was one of them, the other couldn’t quite be made out.

Wyatt whips Jericho into the turnbuckles in the corner. Jericho immediately hops to the middle rope and tries to quickly scramble his way to the top and out of the cage. Wyatt stops him. Wyatt bounces Jericho face-first into the cage. And again. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial with Wyatt firmly in control of the offense.

When we return from commercial, we see Wyatt and Jericho colliding in the middle of the ring. Both guys are down. Wyatt rolls over and covers Jericho but only gets a two count. We see some highlights of Wyatt dominating Jericho during the commercial break. Jericho gets Wyatt up on his shoulders and simply falls backwards like a big tree getting chopped down, as both guys crash down hard onto the mat. We see a shot of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan watching on from outside the cage at ringside as the announcers remind us that you can win by pinfall, submission or by exiting the cage.

Jericho and Wyatt are both back on their feet now and Jericho is nailing Wyatt with several knife-edge chops to the chest. Jericho is firing up now on offense and hits a big Lionsault on Wyatt. Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho but Wyatt uses his leg strength to power-out of the submission hold.

Wyatt does the upside-down crab walk position, amateur bridge, whatever you want to call it, as the cage door is opened. It looked like he was going to crab-walk his way out of the cage door for the victory, but the Ayatollah Of Rock-And-Rollah stopped him. Seconds later, Wyatt regains the offensive control of the match. Wyatt is having his way now with the leader of Fozzy, taunting him and beating him down as the fans in B-More try and rally behind Jericho.

Moments later, Jericho gets some time as he has Wyatt laid out in the middle of the ring after a big spot on the top rope. Jericho begins to climb to the top of the cage. As you think he’s trying to exit the cage, he instead turns around, throws his hands up like “whatever, here we go!” and does a “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka-style body-splash dive onto a standing Bray Wyatt. The fans pop like crazy and then break out into “this is awesome” chants as several replays are shown. Jericho is selling his leg now, and the announcers are also putting over the fact that he may have hurt his leg on commentary.

The cage door is open and Jericho is crawling towards the cage door. Wyatt stops him. Or does he? Jericho breaks free momentarily but Wyatt again grabs hold of his leg to stop him. Both guys are head-first on the ring steps, half-in the cage and half-out of the cage. Jericho keeps trying to crawl away from Wyatt, using the steps as leverage, but Wyatt is holding onto him. Jericho rolls to his back now but Wyatt takes his knee pad off and pounds away at the leg that Jericho injured while jumping off of the top of the cage earlier. Wyatt simply leaps past Jericho and makes it to the floor, winning the cage match.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

After The Match

After the victory, Bray Wyatt still isn’t satisfied. He slams the cage door on the injured leg of Jericho and taunts the fans in Baltimore. “Is this your hero” yells Bray, as he continues to deliver punishment to an injured Jericho. Bray throws Jericho back into the cage and Harper and Rowan close and lock the cage door. Bray taunts the B-More fans again and then sets his sights on a laid out Y2J. Bray picks up Jericho and hits him with his “Sister Abigail” finisher. And that will do it for tonight’s opening match for the “season premiere” of WWE RAW.

Backstage: The Authority Talk About Their Plans For Tonight

Backstage, we see Kane and Seth Rollins talking. In walks Triple H. He talks about how tonight is the “season premiere” of Monday Night RAW. We see Randy Orton as well. HHH says tonight needs to be a night that nobody forgets. Orton asks HHH just how unforgettable he wants tonight to be. He says with HHH’s permission, he’d like to do something to Roman Reigns that makes what Rollins did to Dean Ambrose seem like child’s play. HHH gives him his permission. Orton smiles and walks off. We head to commercial break.

Dolph Ziggler & The Miz Bicker Over Some Goofy Ass Photos

When we return from commercial, Dolph Ziggler is in the ring wearing a suit and holding a microphone. Michael Cole plugs his I-C title match against The Miz at the upcoming Night Of Champions pay-per-view. Ziggler talks about celebrities having their stuff hacked and noted that several “sensitive” pictures leaked onto the internet. He says celebrities don’t deserve that, even if they are D-list level celebs. He says, well maybe one D-list celebrity deserved it. He says he’s talking about The Miz. He says he’s got some sensitive pictures of The Miz to show. We see The Miz in his underwear getting a facial and wearing a shower cap. Then we see photos of The Miz waxing his chest. He says this final picture is going to blow those two out of the water. Before he can show it, The Miz’s theme hits.

The Miz walks out, alongside his stunt-double, Damien Mizdow. Miz says Ziggler is violating the sanctity of his home. He says his people with sue Ziggler, his people, everyone in this building and everyone in the world if we try and re-publish those photos. Miz says if Ziggler takes this issue any further, he promises he will never work in this town again. Ziggler says if that’s the case, he might as well get his money’s worth. He shows the final picture, which features Sandow spray-tanning Miz’s naked ass.

Damien Mizdow, Miz’s stunt-double, rushes the ring to defend his man, but he runs into a dropkick from Ziggler. Miz followed, but when Ziggler took out Mizdow, he backed off. Mizdow gets back up, but then eats a Zig-Zag from the I-C champ. Ziggler’s theme hits again to end this god-awful segment. We head to another commercial break.

Natalya & Rosa Mendes vs. AJ Lee & Paige

We return from commercial and we see Natalya and Rosa Mendes already standing in the ring. From there, we hear AJ Lee’s theme song. She comes skipping down to the ring as the announcers remind everyone that she’s part of a triple-threat match at Night Of Champions, also featuring Nikki Bella and Paige, for Paige’s WWE Divas Championship. Speaking of Paige, her theme hits and she makes her way to the ring as she will be AJ’s partner for tonight.

The bell rings and the “CM Punk” chants immediately start up. Natalya and Paige start things off for their respective teams and Natalya jumps off to an early offensive lead in the match.

Natalya tags Rosa in but then Paige takes over the offense. She shows off in front of AJ but then AJ grabs her by the hair and slaps her on the booby, tagging herself into the match. AJ immediately locks Rosa in the Black Widow and Rosa taps out. After the match, AJ and Paige have a crazy-off.

Winners: AJ Lee & Paige

Backstage: The Viper Strikes

Backstage, we see the trainers icing down Chris Jericho’s injured knee from his cage match earlier tonight with Bray Wyatt. From out of nowhere, “The Viper” Randy Orton strikes and attacks Jericho, slamming him all over the place and jacking up his injured knee even more. On that note, we head to a commercial break.

Paul Heyman & John Cena In The Ring With A Microphone — ‘Nuff Said

We’re back and we see Paul Heyman standing in the ring. He talks about advocating for Brock Lesnar, blah blah blah. He says he has a message for John Cena. With that said, John Cena’s theme hits and out he comes.

Cena gets in the ring and tells Heyman if he has a message for him, to say it to his face. Heyman talks about game plans for Night Of Champions and the rematch between Lesnar and Cena.

John Cena chimes in again and says Lesnar beat Undertaker at WrestleMania and six months has gone by and we haven’t heard from him. He says Lesnar beat him and a week later he challenged him to another fight. He tells Heyman his game plan is simple, “never give up.” He tells Heyman to deliver that message to Lesnar for him.

Heyman laughs as Cena goes to walk away. Cena turns back around and stays in the ring. Heyman talks about how the fans say “Cena sucks,” being obnoxious and saying “Cena sucks” over and over and over again, mimmicking how the fans say it. Heyman tries working Cena up and telling him how he should tell the fans to “shut up.”

Paul Heyman continues to talk about how Cena should tell the fans to shut up. Heyman mocks Cena’s old hip-hop character, doing a little freestyle rap directed towards the fans, with a cheap Ravens mention for cheap heat. Heyman begs Cena to lose the wrist bands and the t-shirts. He tells him to forget this whole concept of “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect” and that if he gives in to that hatred inside his soul, he can finally be the one to beat the one behind the one in 21-1. He says if he doesn’t, he can be just another victim of “The Conquerer” Brock Lesnar.

Heyman tells Cena that he believes in him, but his client, Brock Lesnar, feels he just doesn’t have it in him anymore. Cena teases going to the fans and saying “shut up,” but ends up coming back in the ring. Loud, echo’ing, “let’s go Cena” and “Cena sucks” dueling chants break out. And I mean loud ones. Cena looks confused, not sure if he should do what Heyman suggested to the fans saying he sucks or not. He eventually loses his cool and says, “SHUT UP!!! ….Paul Heyman!!!!” with a little tease that he was going to take his advice. He says he ain’t going to turn his back on every person that has believed in him and what he has said over the years.

Cena goes on to explain why he won’t turn his back on his loyal fans just to appease the few who will “pop” for it and then go back on the internet and talk about how he sucks. He tells “Mr. Heyman” that he is an intelligent man but right now he’s talking about something, when talking about John Cena and his character, that he knows absolutely nothing about. He mocks Heyman’s earlier style of repeating himself over and over and over again by saying he is being “John Cena and repeat, being John Cena and repeat, being John Cena and repeat,” etc. etc. etc. He says he doesn’t mind being the guy who has the dad saying “Cena sucks” and then after the show having that dad tell him he doesn’t like him, but he thanks him for being the kind of guy that his kid respects. He says he’s damn proud to buy the guy to be fortunate enough to meet Army people with Purple Hearts, etc. His voice shakes with passion as he talks about some of the cool stuff he gets to experience by being the type of character he is.

This entire segment is Heyman representing everyone who has debated why Cena should turn heel and Cena explaining why he just won’t consider it. This is turning out to be an epic segment, not just because of Paul Heyman and him being awesome on the mic as he always is, but because John Cena is being equally as impressive on the mic. Both guys just hit a grand slam home run, bottom of the ninth in game seven. Really, really good stuff. Really good. Commercial time.

Seth Rollins vs. Sheamus

We return from commercial and Seth Rollins is finishing up his entrance. Already in the ring is the WWE United States Champion, Sheamus. Sheamus jumps off to an early offensive lead in this match.

Sheamus continues to establish his dominance over “Mr. Money In The Bank” when all of a sudden we hear a siren. Yup, it’s “The King of Swing” ladies and gentlemen. When was the last time he has he done the Cesaro Swing, by the way? Anyways, Cesaro smirks at Sheamus, who acknowledges him from the ring, as we head to a mid-match commercial.

We return from commercial and Sheamus is still in control. Cesaro works his way to ringside and while taunting Sheamus, distracts him long enough for “The Celtic Warrior” to turn around into a Curb Stomp from “Mr. Money In The Bank” for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Seth Rollins

After The Match

Cesaro enters the ring, takes his watch off and puts it in his pocket. He takes his sport coat off and mocks Sheamus’ pose. Then, he hits the U.S. champ with his Neutralizer finisher and mocks him some more. His theme plays again as he stands over a beaten down Sheamus. We head to another commercial break after this match.

Rusev & Lana Parody The U.S. National Anthem

When we return from commercial, out comes Rusev and Lana. They stay at the top of the stage for a promo segment. Lana talks about how it was in this city, Baltimore, that the U.S. national anthem was written. She sings a parody version of the first verse, putting over Rusev in the punch line. From there, the real Russian national anthem plays as Rusev waives around the Russian flag at the top of the stage. We get some WWE Network plugs from the announcers and then head to another commercial.

Sami Zayn & Adrian Neville vs. Tyler Breeze & Tyson Kidd

We’re back from the break and the first thing we see is Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn in the ring. Neville is holding up the NXT Championship. On the other side, already in the ring, is Tyler Breeze and Tyson Kidd. The fans break out into “Ole” chants as soon as the bell rings as the announcers promote this week’s NXT Takeover 2 special on the WWE Network. Zayn and Breeze start things off for their teams, with Zayn establishing control over Breeze early on.

Breeze and Kidd keep tagging in and out, keeping a fresh man on Zayn as the announcers promote all-things NXT on commentary. Adrian Neville has yet to appear in the match thus far, as the announcers point out. Just as I say that, several minutes into the match, Zayn tags Neville in. Neville takes the hot tag and is flying all over the place, hitting any-and-everything that moves.

After taking out everyone in front of him, Neville finally gets to the top rope and hits his crazy spinning-flipping high spot for the pin. Sorry NXT fans, I don’t remember the name of that move off of the top of my head. Anyways, great match and a great showcase of some of NXT’s finest talents. We head to commercial.

Winners: Sami Zayn & Adrian Neville

Jerry Springer Moderated Discussion With The Bella Twins

When we return from commercial, Stephanie McMahon’s theme music hits and out she comes. The purple carpet is laid out in the ring as Stephanie gets a cheap pop for beginning by saying, “god it’s great to be back in Baltimore.” She references her past family turmoil by pointing out that she once wrestled her own father in this building. With that said, she claims it’s time to reconcile The Bella Twins and she says there’s only one person she thinks can help. The “Jerry, Jerry” fans break out in B-More as she introduces Jerry Springer.

Springer comes to the ring with his security guard, “Jason.” I thought his security guard was some dude named “Steve” who looked like a steroid’d-up Cal Ripken Jr? Anyways! Springer gets in the ring, thanks Steph and talks about how he’s dealt with family dysfunction for years.

Jerry first introduces Brie Bella, who comes out to her own new theme music, as per the orders of Stephanie McMahon on last week’s RAW. Highlights are shown of Nikki screaming at Brie to quit last week, followed by Brie hittnig Nikki. Jerry then brings up the fact that Brie apologized on Twitter. Springer asks her why. Brie says she doesn’t forgive Nikki for all that she’s done but that she shouldn’t have stooped to her classless level. Springer then brings out Nikki.

Nikki comes out to the usual Bella Twins theme song to zero reaction from the Baltimore crowd. Nikki talks about accepting Brie’s Twitter apology but notes that she doesn’t forget all the years of being treated like a second-class sister.

They show an edited highlight package from the first two seasons of Total Divas that shows Brie being “selfish” to Nikki. From there, they show footage of the Bella Twins’ father and mother asking for Jerry to help them reconcile. Brie then tells Nikki that she broke her heart but that she still has “J.J.” in her corner. J.J. is their younger brother.

Jerry “surprises” the Bella Twins by “revealing” that J.J. is here tonight. Out comes J.J. This is exactly as bad as you’d expect. My god. J.J. teases siding with Nikki but ultimately sides with Brie. Nikki and Brie get into a cat fight with Springer caught in the middle. J.J. gets sucked into the middle of the fight as well. Stephanie attends to Jerry as the Bella Twins continue to scuffle. They bring out the stretcher for Jerry, who is caught on camera smiling at Steph, who is smiling back and then they quickly go back to looking concerned, etc. The announcers sell the fact that Springer hurt his ankle. Anyways, this appears to be over for now at least. Thank god. We head to commercial.

Goldust & Stardust vs. Los Matadores

We return from commercial and see highlights from last week’s RAW of The Dust Brothers beating up Jey Uso and attacking his “injured” knee. From there, Goldust and Stardust make their way to the ring. The announcers mention Goldust & Stardust vs. The Usos for the tag-titles at Night Of Champions. A pre-taped interview with The Usos air as The Dust Brothers continue to make their way to the ring. Already in the ring, are Goldust and Stardust’s opponents for tonight, Los Matadores.

The bell rings and here we go. Matadores starts things off with Stardust. Stardust establishes control over Matadores and then tags in his big brother, Goldust. The fans in Baltimore are chanting something, but I can’t quite make out what it is. Meanwhile, Matadores gets control over Goldust and then both of the Los Matadores hit a big double-team spot on Goldust on the floor.

Out of nowhere, the Dust Brothers hit the “Dark Matter” finisher on Matadores for the 1-2-3. Goldust and Stardust continue their winning ways.

Winners: Goldust & Stardust

Joan Rivers Tribute

After the match, we head to the announce table and Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and JBL have their serious faces on. And for good reason. The trio honors the legendary and histarically funny comedian, the late Joan Rivers. They talk about her contributions to WWE over the years and introduce a touching video package, nararrted by Jerry Lawler, that showcases Rivers’ various appearances on WWE programming over the yerars. From there, we head to another commercial break.

Titus O’Neil vs. Adam Rose

When we return from commercial, we see highlights of Slater Gator being beat by Adam Rose and the Bunny on last week’s RAW. From there, we see Titus O’Neil and Heath Slater already in the ring as The Exotic Express accompany Adam Rose as he makes his way to the ring.

The bell rings and here we go. Straight out of the gate, O’Neil takes it to Rose as the commentators try and put over the Bunny at ringside. The fans start “humming” Rose’s theme song as we see the Bunny super-kicking Heath Slater at ringside. Meanwhile, in the ring, a distracted O’Neil turns around right into a “Party Foul” finisher from Rose.

Winner: Adam Rose

After The Match

Rose’s theme hits but is immediately cut off. The Bunny gets in the ring and goes to the top rope. He hits, as the announcers call it, a “Bunny Splash” off the top to O’Neil.

Renee Young Interviews Roman Reigns

Backstage, Renee Young is with Roman Reigns. She asks Reigns what he thinks Orton meant by what he said earlier tonight. Reigns says he doesn’t know but to believe in Reigns, as he cocks his arm, indicating a Superman punch coming in Orton’s future. We head to another commercial break.

Brock Lesnar Video Package & Announcement

A new Brock Lesnar video package airs hyping his dominance as WWE World Heavyweight Champion and promoting his upcoming title rematch against John Cena at the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view. After the video package, it is announced that Lesnar will return live on next week’s RAW, which is the Night Of Champions “go-home” edition of the show.

Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns

After the Brock Lesnar video package and return announcement concludes, Randy Orton’s theme music hits. Out walks “The Viper” to the ring, as our RAW main event, the SummerSlam rematch with Orton vs. Roman Reigns, is up next. During Orton’s ring entrance, we head to a commercial break.

When we return from commercial, Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring. Justin Roberts does formal ring introductions for the match once both guys are in the ring, almost as if this were a title match. The bell rings and here we go.

Reigns gets in some offense straight out of the gate, but almost immediately, Orton takes over. Orton dominates Reigns for a while but Reigns makes his comeback just as we are led to a mid-match commercial break.

We return from the break and the first thing we see is Orton slamming Reigns’ face into the ring steps outside of the ring, taunting him while he does so. Back in the ring, Orton covers Reigns for a two count. Orton is in firm control of the match now and replays are shown of action that took place during the commercial break that allowed Orton to take control of the contest.

The action spills out to the floor once more, where Orton continues to deliver punishment to Reigns. Orton beats Reigns up a bit outside the ring and then rolls him back in for another near fall. The fans break out into a “let’s go Reigns” chant in Baltimore, however it does no good, as Orton continues to stalk his prey and continues to dominate his larger opposition.

Reigns gets a hope spot, clotheslining Orton down to the mat out of the blue, however seconds later Orton is comfortably back in control of the offense. Orton takes Reigns to the top rope and hits him with a big super-plex for a close near fall. On that note, we head to yet another mid-match commercial. The first commercial took place during Orton’s entrance, then a second early into the match and now a third commercial during one match. Jeez!

When we return from commercial, Orton is still in control of Reigns. Orton is trying to keep his comfortable control in the match, but Reigns looks to be in the early stages of his offensive comeback. Reigns hits a hope spot and both guys are laid out. It looks like Reigns is about to take over and the crowd feels it, as they are stomping their feet and clapping their hands in anticipation of a Roman Reigns beat down of “The Viper” Randy Orton.

Just as I say that, however, Orton catches Reigns coming off the ropes with his trademark snap-bodyslam, which he does with incredible speed and really looks dangerous, as if that move is off by one second, it could result in a potential serious injury to the person on the receiving end. Nevertheless, Orton hits it with flawless precision.

Reigns starts making a comeback again, hitting his running boot-to-the-face from the floor to the apron spot and then follows that up by continuing his attack on Orton inside the ring. Orton, however, once again cuts Reigns’ comeback short and is back in control of the match. This match is turning out to be pretty damn good, and a lot of the credit, if not all of it, belongs to “The Viper.”

Orton hits that dangerous snap-bodyslam again for a close near fall that the announcers sold as the near finish to this match, which as I mentioned, is turning out to be pretty damn excellent. Orton hits his draping-DDT spot on Reigns off the middle rope inside the ring. Orton is going into “Viper” mode, pouncing down on the mat and pounding away, calling for the RKO.

As Orton waits for Reigns to get up to deliver the RKO, he walks right into a Superman punch from Reigns. Now we see Kane, Seth Rollins and a bunch of officials — and I mean like dozens — of officials rushing to the ring. Michael Cole questions who all these officials are. They all reach under the ring for something.

Winner via Disqualification: Roman Reigns

After The Match

I’m assuming Reigns wins via DQ, although no official ruling was ever made. I guess it could be a No Contest, although the interference was clearly on Orton’s behalf, so one would assume that would mean Reigns wins via DQ. Who knows though with the way WWE books finishes as of late.

Kane and Rollins and Orton put the boots to Reigns as the officials reach under the ring. The Authority members are calling for the cage to be lowered. Reigns starts fighting back, knocking Kane and Rollins out of the ring while the cage comes down. The cage is covering the ring now, however Reigns and Orton are the only two inside the ring. Reigns is beating up on Orton now. He hits Orton with The Spear and the B-More fans explode.

We see Kane trying to get through the door of the cage. Meanwhile, when Reigns turns around, Rollins is on top of the cage and he hits a big flying splash onto Reigns, up-staging Jericho’s splash from earlier tonight. Poor Jericho.

Anyways, Kane enters the scene now and joins in on the beat down of Reigns. Kane slams Reigns’ head into the cage over and over again as we see Orton with a steel chair.

Orton starts beating down Reigns with the chair in ruthless fashion, literally hitting him with it over and over and over again. Orton yells and taunts Reigns as he continues to beat down Reigns with the chair.

“The Viper” continues his attack with the chair and then sets the chair under Reigns’ face and he tells Rollins to do his thing. Rollins yells at Reigns and tells him “he made him” over and over again and then says “now I’m going to destroy you.” The fans chant “you sold out” at Rollins as he hits the ropes and comes off with a big Curb Stomp onto Reigns’ face, which smashes directly into the steel chair that Orton set up for him.

Rollins’ theme hits as replays are shown of how the end of the match went down, including all of the post-match drama with The Authority beat down of Reigns. From there, we see The Authority guys, Rollins, Orton and Kane all celebrating in the ring over a beaten down Roman Reigns. The “season premiere” of RAW goes off of the air on that note.
