RAW Opens With The Authority, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan & Seth Rollins

This week’s show kicks off with The Authority making their way to the ring. We see the entire roster watching on a monitor from backstage. Stephanie McMahon kicks things off on the mic welcoming us to Monday Night Raw.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon go on to gloat about the New England Patriots winning the Super Bowl on Sunday night. HHH makes a joke, talking about how there’s so much controversy regarding the Patriots winning that a “#CancelNFLNetwork” campaign was started.

From there, they go on to talk about their own controversy, which leads to them showing footage from the Royal Rumble. We see Roman Reigns getting help from The Rock in eliminating the final participants in the 30-man Rumble match.

Back live, HHH talks about Big Show and Kane getting involved in the Rumble after they were eliminated was unsportsmanlike, which he says is much like the Seattle Seahawks. He says he doesn’t have a problem with them as much as he does with The Rock.

HHH goes on to talk about Sting sticking his nose in their business and promises to deal with them in their one-on-one, face-to-face confrontation at the upcoming WWE Fast Lane pay-per-view later this month.

The two switch gears and go back to the Rumble controversy, questioning who would have really won the match had The Rock not interfered.

Before they can continue, they are cut off by Roman Reigns’ music. Reigns makes his way to the ring through the crowd. He immediately gets in Triple H’s face and asks if he’s really going to take his Royal Rumble victory away from him. Reigns and HHH remain face-to-face, staring each other down until Stephanie McMahon finally jumps in between them.

As Steph talks, HHH and Reigns keep leaning to the side to look at each other. Steph finally gets Reigns’ attention when she says he doesn’t deserve to main event WrestleMania because of what happened at the Royal Rumble.

Before anything else happens, Daniel Bryan’s theme hits. The crowd explodes with “Yes!” chants and general noise as the leader of the “Yes! Movement” makes his way down to the ring. When the music stops, the pops grow even louder and then a thunderous “Yes! Yes! Yes!” chant breaks out.

Bryan tells Reigns he can relate, as The Authority screwed with him for a long time. He says if they wanna talk about controversy, he feels it’s controversial to strip him of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and never give him a rematch for the title.

As HHH tries to talk to Bryan, they are interrupted by Seth Rollins’ theme music. Rollins comes out with Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble. The trio makes their way down to the ring. Before they can say anything, we head to a commercial break in the middle of this segment. That was odd! Regardless, RAW returns after this break.

We return from the commercial and the first thing we see is Rollins entering the ring and saying, “Live TV, eh?” He laughs and then tells Daniel Bryan that Brock Lesnar would eat him alive. Rollins says Bryan got hurt and that’s no ones fault but his own. He welcomes Bryan to the deep end, where the big boys play.

Rollins turns his attention to Reigns. He says Reigns wouldn’t even be the number one contender if he didn’t get help from The Rock. Rollins says if anyone deserves to main event WrestleMania 31 and get a one-on-one match with Brock Lesnar, it’s Mr. Money in the Bank. Before Rollins can finish, Reigns warns him, telling him if he gets any closer, he’s going to knock him into next week.

Triple H says The Authority always listens to the WWE Universe. HHH and Steph whisper something in each others ears off-mic. HHH says they have a change of plans. Tonight in this ring, it will be Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins. The winner goes on to face Roman Reigns at Fast Lane. The winner of that match goes on to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

HHH leaves the decision up to Reigns if he wants to accept those stipulations. After a lengthy delay, Reigns finally says screw it and says he’ll beat all of them up, noting that he’s always been on his own. Before the segment wraps up, HHH tells Reigns to stay in the ring because he’s in action next. With that said, Big Show’s theme music hits and the big man makes his way down to the ring. We head to a commercial break.

Roman Reigns vs. Big Show

When we return from the break, the Reigns-Show match is already underway, as we see Show holding Reigns in a big bear hug as Michael Cole informs us that the match started during the break. We see footage, via the WWE App, of how the match started. We see Big Show slamming Reigns into the barricade.

Back live, Reigns is fighting back now, as he hits multiple big splashes on Show in the corner. We see Seth Rollins, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble at ringside watching the action.

Reigns calls for the Superman Punch, but is distracted by Noble, who hops up on the apron, allowing Mercury to grab Reigns’ foot from the floor outside of the ring. This leads to Reigns walking right into a spear from Big Show.

Finally, Reigns knocks J&J Security out to the floor. Reigns nails Show with a Superman Punch. He calls for the spear, but Rollins runs in and blasts him with the briefcase, which leads to Reigns walking right into a Chokeslam from Big Show. 1-2-3. Big Show wins.

Winner: Big Show

Backstage: The Authority

Backstage, we see Triple H and Stephanie McMahon watching what just happened on a monitor. HHH tells Steph that getting that stipulation announced earlier was easier than they thought it would be. He says it’s not even legal what they did, but because they all agreed to it, it’s all good. HHH says Rollins will win tonight and go on to WrestleMania. HHH says all that’s left is the “Stone Cold Podcast” later tonight. Steph asks him what he thinks Austin will ask him. HHH says it doesn’t matter because he’ll manipulate him the way he just did everyone else in the opening segment. The two kiss and we head to another break.

Dean Ambrose Eliminates Curtis Axel And Challenges Bad News Barrett

We’re back from the break and we see Curtis Axel making his way to the ring with a mic. Axel tells us not to change the channel because he’s got something to say. The announcers laugh, as if Axel having something to say is a joke. Axel goes on to talk about how he was never eliminated from the Royal Rumble match. He stands on the top rope, points to the WrestleMania 31 logo and says he wants to fight Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and kick his ass. The announcers laugh again, really making Axel out to be a total joke.

From there, Dean Ambrose’s theme song hits. Ambrose makes his way down to the ring. He punches Axel a few times and then throws him over the top rope. Ambrose gets on the mic and says, “there, now you’ve been eliminated.”

Axel comes back in and beats up on Ambrose from behind. Ambrose eventually gets the better of him and nails him with a double-arm DDT. Ambrose talks about how he’s coming after Bad News Barrett because he wants to be on the wall at WWE Headquarters alongside the legendary I-C champs of the past. We head to another commercial.

Goldust & Stardust vs. The Ascension

We’re back from the break and The Ascension is in the middle of making their ring entrance. Goldust and Stardust are already in the ring. It’s time for tag-team action here on RAW.

The bell sounds and here we go. Stardust and Viktor kick things off for their respective teams. Viktor gets the better of Stardust, nailing him with a big slam.

The finish sees Goldust fighting off Viktor, only to get nailed from behind by Konnor with a knee. The Ascension hits their “Fall of Man” finisher for the 1-2-3.

After the match, Goldust sits on his knees while Stardust yells at him. Eventually, Stardust storms off, leaving Goldust in the ring by himself. We head to another break.

Winners: The Ascension

Backstage: Goldust & Stardust Argue

Backstage, we see Goldust and Stardust arguing. Goldust is trying to apologize to Stardust, who is pacing back-and-forth talking to himself. Finally, Goldust says “Cody!,” which gets his attention. Stardust yells at him and tells him to never call him that and walks off.

John Cena Welcomes Back Dolph Ziggler, Ryback & Erick Rowan

John Cena’s theme hits and out he comes to the ring. Cena has bad swelling around his right eye, which he addresses right from the get-go. Cena hears a “Cena sucks” chant, which has him pausing, allowing the fans to get it out of their system.

From there, Cena goes on to talk about how The Authority fired Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan. Cena says Triple H doesn’t care about the WWE Universe. He then introduces a video package, which shows Sting helping him win his match, where the stipulation was that The Authority had to re-hire Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan.

Finally, Cena re-introduces Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Ryback back to RAW. He goes on to talk about how anyone can be beat, including Rusev, and beat Rusev he will.

Before he can continue, however, Stephanie McMahon appears on the titan tron and cuts him off. She tells Ryback that his match is next, and it’s against Luke Harper. We head to a commercial break on that note.

Ryback vs. Luke Harper

When we return from commercial, Harper is beating up Ryback. Ryback makes a comeback, holding Harper in the air for a while during a suplex spot. The two battle back-and-forth for a while until finally, Ryback hits a big spinebuster.

Ryback goes for the Meathook clothesline, but out of nowhere, Harper blasts him with a big super kick. He tries to pin Ryback on that note, but Ryback manages to kick out at two.

Finally, Ryback scoops up Harper for the Shellshock, but Harper slides out the back door and rolls him up for a pin attempt. Ryback kicks out at two. From there, Ryback gets Harper up and blasts him with his Shellshock finisher. 1-2-3. Ryback wins. After the match we head to another break.

Winner: Ryback

We’re back from the break and we see The Usos making their way to the ring. Already in the ring is Cesaro, with Tyson Kidd and Natalya out on the floor watching on. In Jey Uso’s corner out on the floor is Jimmy Uso and Naomi.

Early on, Uso is flying all over the place, taking it to the “King of Swing.” Cesaro is thrown out to the floor. Cesaro gets up and argues with Jimmy Uso out on the floor until Jey Uso comes flying over the top rope and splashes on him.

Back in the ring, Uso goes to go back to work on Cesaro, but Cesaro rolls back out and regroups with Kidd and Nattie. Back in the ring, Cesaro finally gets the upper-hand on Uso and starts to take over control of the match, including hitting his “Cesaro Swing” move, which gets the fans on their feet. In the end, Cesaro manages to pick up the victory. He, Kidd and Nattie celebrate as we head to another commercial break.

Winner: Cesaro

The Miz Changes Damien Mizdow’s Job

When we return from the break, we see Damien Mizdow backstage at catering fixing a plate of food for The Miz. An autograph seeker approaches the two and asks for an autograph. Miz says no. The fan says he was actually asking for an autograph for Mizdow. Miz starts to lecture Mizdow, so Mizdow, as usual, mimics Miz’s movements and words. Miz finally loses his cool and yells at Mizdow to “stop doing that!” Miz tells Mizdow he’s fired. He says Mizdow will instead be his personal assistant. He tells Mizdow to go make him a shake with extra strawberries.

Bray Wyatt vs. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the ring and during his entrance, we head to another commercial break.

We’re back from commercial and after a quick plug for tonight’s “Stone Cold Podcast” with Triple H, we go to the ring for our next match of the evening. Out comes Bray Wyatt. It’ll be Ziggler and Wyatt one-on-one in our next match here on RAW.

Ziggler and Wyatt lock up to kick off the match. They exchange punches until Wyatt takes control and works Ziggler over in the corner. Wyatt keeps control and talks trash to Ziggler. Wyatt nails a cheap shot while the referee has his back turned. Wyatt chokes Ziggler on the ropes now. Ziggler comes back with a dropkick. We’re back from the break and we see Wyatt still in complete control of the action. Ziggler starts to make his comeback. Finally, we head to the finish of the match, which sees Ziggler hit Wyatt with the FameAsser, but Wyatt literally no-sold it, popped right back up and blasted him with his Sister Abigail finisher. 1-2-3. Wyatt wins.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Backstage: The Authority & Seth Rollins

After some clips are shown of Triple H’s “major announcement” in the opening segment, we shoot backstage to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. In walks Seth Rollins. He tells them their announcement was brilliant but asks why they’re giving Daniel Bryan a shot. Steph says it’s a sign that they have confidence in him. HHH says Randy Orton whined and complained all the time, but not Rollins. Rollins says he’s not Randy Orton, and he thanks god for that. He says he’s gonna prove tonight why no one in the entire WWE locker room can touch him. He says tonight he’s gonna punch his ticket to Fast Lane and stomp out the “Yes! Movement” once and for all. We head to a commercial break on that note.

Paige vs. Alicia Fox

It’s time for Divas action here on RAW. We see a clip from last Thursday’s live edition of SmackDown where The Bella Twins beat down Paige.

Back live on RAW, Paige makes her way to the ring. Already in the ring is Paige’s opponent for tonight, Alicia Fox. On commentary for this one are The Bella Twins.

The focus throughout this match is about 60-percent Bella Twins commentary and 40-percent action in the ring. Paige slips out of the ring, gets in The Bella Twins’ face on commentary and screams.

In the ring, Paige returns and continues to go to work on Fox. The announcers talk about Paige being the newest cast member on Total Divas. This leads to a long, boring commentary segment with The Bella Twins talking about Total Divas and Twitter.

Paige, meanwhile, rolls Fox up and covers her. 1-2-3. Paige wins. The Bella Twins drop their headsets and approach the ring. Fox jumps Paige from behind off the distraction and puts her in a surfboard type of submission hold. This leads to The Bella Twins hitting the ring and spraying Paige with spray-tan. They walk off. We head to another commercial break.

Winner: Sin Cara

Backstage: Bray Wyatt Promo

As Miz and Sandow argue at ringside, the lights go out. Bray Wyatt appears on the titan tron. He talks about how “he used to be the one they feared,” etc. He seems to be referring to The Undertaker, but it’s never said outright. Wyatt says he was the one they used to fear, but now Wyatt is the one people fear. He says they can’t wait to see you again.

Rusev (with Lana) vs. Erick Rowan

Back to the ring for our next match. Rusev and Lana come out for this non-title match. Erick Rowan comes out next, as he’s Rusev’s opponent tonight.

The match is pretty much a squash from the early goings, as Rusev sneak-attacks Rowan as soon as he hits the ring. Rusev dominates the action as we head to a mid-match commercial.

Finally, Rusev applies The Accolade and scores the submission victory. After the match, Rusev refuses to break the hold. Finally he does. Lana gets on the mic and says because it’s Oscar season, she’s going to introduce their new movie. Their “movie” airs, and it’s pretty much just a bunch of footage of Rusev kicking people’s asses. They go to have the Russian flag drop from the ceiling as usual, but it gets caught on something and doesn’t drop down. The fans cheer like crazy as the announcers question if John Cena had something to do with that.

Winner: Rusev

Backstage: Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan

Backstage, Daniel Bryan tries to relate to Roman Reigns. He tells him not to think he’s going to get his revenge at Fast Lane on Rollins, because Bryan will be the one to face him at Fast Lane. Reigns asks him if that’s a threat. Bryan says it wasn’t. Reigns says it doesn’t matter what it is, and tells him to get out of his locker room. Bryan says “no problem” and walks off.

Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins

It’s main event time. The stipulation for this one has Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins, with the winner earning the right to face Roman Reigns at WWE Fast Lane, where the winner of that match will go on to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this year’s WrestleMania pay-per-view.

The action begins and the match goes back and forth. It’s a very fast-paced match with both guys flying all over the place. Bryan hits a big dive out to the floor, crashing onto Rollins, Mercury and Noble. Finally, we get to the finish, where Roman Reigns comes out and cleans house on anything that moves. He hits a big spear on Big Show, who came down to ringside earlier in the match. He spears Mercury as well. Noble tries to cheap shot Bryan with the Money in the Bank briefcase, but the referee sees him. While this is going on, Reigns blasts Rollins with a Superman punch from the floor.
