Will Any WWE Wrestlers Be Affected By Trump’s “Muslim Ban”?

Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen – mostly countries that the US has violently destabilized with regime changes and wars) from entering the United States for at least the next 90 days. Many permanent residents with green cards who have lived in the US for years are being prevented from returning to their families and jobs in the US because of the ban. Huge protests have broken out across the world and a federal judge temporarily blocked the deportation of people who were detained at airports. However, the bulk of the order remains in place (for now).

WWE currently has three wrestlers on the main roster that I know of, whose family background is from one of the countries on the list. However, the wrestlers are all American born US citizens or Canadian citizens and would not be affected by the ban decreed by Trump. Their parents, however, could be affected if they are not naturalized US citizens.

Sami Zayn: Zayn’s parents are Muslims from Syria, but he was born and raised in Quebec and is a Canadian citizen.

Mojo Rawley: Mojo’s parents are from Syria and Palestine, but he was born in Alexandria, VA and is an American citizen.

Ariya Daivari: Ariya’s parents are from Iran, but he was born in Plymouth, MN and is also an American citizen.

NXT wrestler Aliyah is also of Arab descent and has parents “from the middle east” (can’t seem to find which country) but she was born in Toronto, Canada and is a Canadian citizen.

One former wrestler who may be affected is the Iron Sheik, who was born in Tehran, Iran. It is not clear if he has US citizenship, so if he leaves the country, he may be prevented from coming back in.

Everything is really fucked
