EVOLVE 82 Results – Apr. 22, 2017 – Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Drew Galloway

EVOLVE 82
April 22, 2017
Queens, NY – La Boom

I attended this show live and it was incredible. Just ridiculously entertaining throughout, and a great crowd and atmosphere.

WWN Championship
Matt Riddle (c) defeated Timothy Thatcher (w/ Stokely Hathaway)

Matt Riddle came out first and cut a promo about being the first WWN champion, but also needing to defend his title. Said “bro” a lot also. Stokely Hathaway (who got tons of heat) came out and said that by the end of tonight, Timothy Thatcher would be the new WWN champ. The crowd chanted “Trashy Tim” a lot.

The match had a lot of grappling and groundwork and a few nice suplexes. Riddle won via the Bromission.

After the match, Stokely Hathaway got on the mic and said that Timothy Thatcher doesn’t sign autographs or hang out with fans. He just wrestles and Matt should be more like Tim. Riddle said that he hangs out with fans because it’s fun and he can do whatever he wants, then said “hit my music, bro” and danced to his music.

ACH defeated Austin Theory

ACH won with a brainbuster. The crowd was well behind ACH. This was a great match with a lot of showmanship by ACH. Austin Theory won over the crowd with an excellent performance and they chanted “Austin Theory” (like Austin Aries) as he left.

Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Drew Galloway

Drew Galloway came out and cut a great heel promo on the crowd, saying he’s glad to get out of “smelly little nightclubs” like this with fans that also smell. One guy in the crowd kept chanting “you sold out” and wouldn’t stop. Galloway called him a stupid motherf*cker. Galloway said before he leaves he would burn this company to the ground. Galloway then said that referee DA Brewer screwed him last time, then told him he wasn’t going to hurt him, but eventually laid him out with a headbutt.

Zack Sabre Jr. ran out and they brawled outside the ring. Sabre mostly locked holds on Galloway’s arm and hand and Gallow hit him with a few great high impact powerbombs, etc.

Ethan Page and The Gatekeepers ran out in the middle of the match to attack Sabre. Galloway went to the back and grabbed a sledgehammer and was going to smash the EVOLVE championship, until Keith Lee ran out and made the save, sending everyone running, but not before Sabre did a vicious move on Gatekeeper Flex’s arm. This entire match/segment was amazing.

Kyle O’Reilly defeated Keith Lee

After Keith Lee’s run-in in the last match, he got on the mic and said that he wasn’t sure why everyone ran off, because he was a friendly fellow. The crowd chanted “friendly fellow.”

This was a long, but good match. The crowd was fully behind Keith Lee. The referee stopped the match at one point because Kyle O’Reilly kicked Keith Lee in the balls, but Keith Lee got on the mic and said that he didn’t want the match to end because of an accidental kick to the “People’s Anaconda.” Kyle O’Reilly eventually won the match with a brainbuster.

EVOLVE Tag Team Championship
Chris Dickinson & Jaka defeated Tracy Williams & Fred Yehi (c)

Chris Dickinson & Jaka became the new tag team champions after Dickinson hit a release powerbomb on “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams. Jaka did a suicide dive to the outside but actually missed and jumped over the guardrail into the crowd. Dickinson’s family was in the crowd and he went to ringside to celebrate with his daughter after the win.

Segment: Larry Dallas

After the tag match, Larry Dallas came out to huge boos. He said he had the scoop of the century, that Stokely Hathaway was in discussions with Tracy Williams to become the new agent for Catch Point. Everyone looked confused. Stokely Hathaway came out, but then everyone left except for Fred Yehi, who attacked Larry Dallas and hit him with three German suplexes to a big pop from the crowd. Larry Dallas stayed in the ring while the ring crew removed the ring mat, then rolled it up with Larry Dallas inside like a burrito and carried him off.

Last Man Standing Match
Ethan Page defeated Darby Allin

This match was incredibly brutal. Allin came out with a body bag and Page came out with a shovel. They wrestled on the outside a lot, with Allin taking some insane bumps. Allin dived from the top rope to the outside over the barrier into the crowd and onto Page. Allin also put a chair on his back and dived backwards onto Page on the outside. Page powerbombed Allin in the crowd onto chairs, and powerbombed him onto the apron on the outside. Page also nailed Allin in the face with a shovel and in the back, which left a huge welt on his back.

In a brutal spot, Page put Allin inside the body bag, then poured a bunch of thumb tacks inside, zipped it up, and powerbombed Allin. Allin’s arm seemed messed up and was bleeding and he was holding it and seemed unable to move it towards the end of the match. Page’s face was also bloodied.

Austin Theory ran in to attack Ethan Page, but Page eventually took him out. Priscilla Kelly also ran out, but Page hit a back body drop on Allin, flipping him over and nailing Kelly in the corner, laying her out. Page set up a chair in the ring and hit a release powerbomb on Allin onto the chair. Page then piled a bunch of chairs on Allin, then laid out Austin Theory again and put him on top of Allin, then dragged Priscilla Kelly over and put her on top. The referee counted to 10 and Page won.

Insane match. Allin was sent to the hospital after the match due to a gash on his elbow. Update: He tweeted that he suffered a fractured elbow. :(
