NJPW Announces Plans and Roster for July’s US Event

During yesterday’s press conference, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the broadcast plans and roster for July’s G1 Climax Special in the United States.

In terms of U.S. broadcast plans, the two day event will be split with AXS TV airing the July 1st show live at 8PM EST and NJPW World airing the July 2nd show live at 5PM PST. AXS TV will be airing a replay of the July 2nd show at 8PM EST on July 7th. For non-U.S. viewers, only the July 1st show will be available live on NJPW World.

NJPW’s IWGP Heavyweight, IWGP Intercontinental, IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team, and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team belts were all announced to be getting defended at the shows. The inaugural winner of NJPW’s new IWGP United States Championship will also be crowned during the event. NJPW stated the new US Championship will become the focal point for their US expansion occurring next year.

The roster for both shows were announced to be a mix of stars from NJPW, ROH, and Mexican-based CMLL.
