John Cena will be in the lead role in an upcoming Transformers spinoff movie, “Bumblebee,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie currently has a release date of December 21, 2018 and production starts today in California. No word yet on when Cena will be shooting his parts or how much time he will miss. He just returned earlier this month and seems like he may soon be off to Hollywood again for a while already.
The movie will co-star Hailee Steinfeld and will be about the Transformer “Bumblebee.” No word yet on what role Cena will have, other than the report just saying it’ll be the “lead role.”
The story is set in the year 1987, where Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
One of the most exciting projects I've been fortunate to be a part of. Thrilled to join the #Transformers franchise! https://t.co/hdMUxuMcyA
