News & Notes: WWE Studios Bruce Lee Movie, Facial Reactions, More

Birth of the Dragon

WWE Studios is releasing a Bruce Lee biopic called Birth of the Dragon on August 25, which so far is getting “reamed” in IMDb reviews, which mostly seem to be from Asians who are angry at the movie, calling it a “slimy cash-grab” and pointing out that it was not approved by the Lee family. Lots of reviews point out that the movie seems to focus on “a white guy” as the main character, despite it claiming to be a Bruce Lee biopic.

This entire film is a carefully hidden propaganda piece that portrays Lee as some unsexual, angry, kung fu loser who accomplishes nothing.

Meanwhile, a white guy actually stars as the main character of the movie, gets the (Asian) girl, and wins the day.

What? What just happened? A film about Bruce Lee that ISN’T actually about Bruce? This propaganda piece focuses on stereotyping, dehumanizing, and denigrating Asians and Asian culture.

Here’s the trailer:
