Update on Talking Smack + Owens and Ellsworth vs. Renee Young on Twitter

Talking Smack is scheduled to take place after the WWE Battleground PPV this Sunday. As expected, WWE is still going to air Talking Smack after SmackDown PPVs and likely will also still do “Raw Talk” after Raw PPVs.

It was reported by Sports Illustrated that Vince McMahon personally canceled the show, with SI’s sources claiming that Vince was “unhappy with the show and strongly believed it did not serve the company’s best interests.”

Dave Meltzer cast some doubt on that report on Wrestling Observer Radio yesterday, saying (rationally) that if it was true that Vince was so unhappy with the show, he would likely cancel it outright instead of still keeping it on for two weeks per month. Meltzer says that the post-PPV episodes were usually the highest rated, so his feeling is that Vince just wanted to do the higher rated episodes.

WWE has been cutting costs a bit lately, so that seems like the most likely explanation. Sports Illustrated’s report claimed that McMahon plans on eventually canceling the show completely, including the post-PPV episodes, so I guess we’ll see if that ends up being true or not.
