Brandi Rhodes Official Statement on GFW Departure

As previously reported, Brandi Rhodes was announced to have left GFW after a recent update made on Impact Wrestling’s website roster page. While neither GFW nor Brandi gave official comments at the time, the Wrestling Observer reported it was due to a side project Brandi is currently working on.

During a recent interview with CBS Radio, Brandi Rhodes confirmed reports of the non-wrestling television show being the official reason she left GFW and why she joined Ring of Honor.

Unfortunately, that story is kind of a mess. There are some valid statements that I’ve seen, but it’s really not as dramatic as people want it to be. Basically, Cody and I were very candid with what we were doing after WWE as far as contracts go. People are confused. I never signed the contract that people think I signed with Global Force stating that they got percentages.

What I did sign was a tentative contract with Impact Wrestling when they were still Impact. That contract had a clause for me, because I was already working on some stuff in other areas of television. That clause basically said that if something else in television were to happen for me, they can’t be uncooperative. And if they were uncooperative, we would be able to part ways. And that is honestly what happened. So, I am filming something awesome in Atlanta, but I can’t say what it is.

New Memphis Wrestling Show in Development with Jerry Lawler

Jerry Lawlwer and Bill Dundee are reported to be working on a new television show called “Jerry Lawler’s Classic Memphis Wrestling” according to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

A pilot episode for the series has been filmed and is currently being shopped to local television stations around Memphis. Lawler was also stated to have plans for the new show to eventually air on syndicate on the WWE Network.

All Japan Pro Wrestling was recently announced to be joining the Fite TV App service, according to the Wrestling Observer. AJPW content arrives this Saturday with six shows to be available on Fite’s VOD service.

Besides AJPW, Impact Wrestling’s One Night Only special featuring the 2015 GFW Las Vegas television tapings airs tonight.
