WWE Considering Dropping Blu-Ray Format for Future Disc-Based Releases

WWE is currently reported to be considering dropping Blu-Ray for future disc-based releases, according to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported WWE’s European DVD/BR distributor, Freemantle International, stated this year’s SummerSlam was originally planned to not include a Blu-ray release due to poor WWE Blu-Ray sales over the past two years. WWE ended up reconsidering and instead will use the sales of SummerSlam 2017’s Blu-Ray release as a way to determine future support for the platform.

WWE’s Publishing division announced a new SummerSlam 2017 themed comic book from Boom! Studios is currently available for sale at comic shops. The comic book features tales spanning the 30 year history of SummerSlam and cover art by artist Rob Schamberger.
