Jim Ross on Bobby Heenan, Paige, Strowman-Lesnar Match, and More

Newest blog posting by Jim Ross on his official blog discussed a variety of topics including the passing of Bobby Heenan, Paige’s attempt at resuming her WWE career, and tonight’s Universal Championship match at No Mercy.

On the topic of Bobby Heenan, Ross stated he is shaken up at the passing of Heenan since he considered him as one of his long time friends. Like others before, he praised Heenan as being one of the best ever talents in wrestling history.

“Still shaken over the death of my long time friend, and former broadcast partner, Bobby Heenan, this past Sunday after years of suffering and illness that drastically changed his life and affected many of us in a profound way. Bobby Heenan was simply the best to ever combine the diverse skill sets of wrestling, managing, and broadcasting in the history of the pro wrestling game. Arguably the most talented overall performer in the history of the biz was our beloved ‘Weasel.’ Bobby, please say hello wife Jan when you see her, and tell her that I miss her every minute of the day. You always made she and I laugh and that’s always our best medicine.”

On the topic of Paige’s work towards resuming her career in the WWE, Ross stated he was happy to hear she’s trying to get her career back on track. He also believes staying in the WWE is the best option for her career.

“Happy to see WWE’s Paige back in the Performance Center getting ready to make her return to the ring on the main roster. The talented, young Brit has too much talent to not be fully invested in the WWE, which can feature her skills better than any promotion on the planet. Plus, earn Paige the most cash.”

On the topic of tonight’s Universal Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman at No Mercy, Ross stated he’s very excited to see this match and feels Lesnar retaining would be the smart decision for WWE’s Wrestlemania 34 plans.

“Anxious to catch WWE No Mercy this Sunday on the WWE Network. Leaning on a Lesnar retaining scenario versus Strowman, which would set up what seemingly is the inevitable Universal Title match between Lesnar and Roman Reigns further down the road.”

Other topics discussed included him being very happy at Ric Flair’s health recovery, the current status of his new autobiography, and loving the idea of WWE bringing back the Starrcade name for the upcoming house show in North Carolina.
