Various News: ROH, Lucha Underground, Flashback Friday, Shield & TLC

ROH News & Notes

Ring of Honor announced both NJPW’s Kenny Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi will be making appearances at next year’s Supercard of Honor XII event during the week of Wrestlemania 34. After recently setting the second highest crowd ever in ROH history at Global Wars Chicago, the company is hoping the addition of Omega will lead to breaking the all-time crowd record of 3500 set during 2016’s Supercard of Honor show. The company is also hoping to to be able to use more NJPW’s stars to help boost interest for next year’s event.

During a recent interview with website AV Club, Ring of Honor’s COO Joe Koff stated the company is currently planning on launching their own WWE Network-like service in early 2018.

AVC: You have a vast back catalog of wrestling footage. Can we expect a Ring Of Honor streaming service anytime soon?

JK: It’s in development right now. I would expect it to be around the first of the year or a little bit after.

Status of Lucha Underground’s Roster for Future Seasons

The status of Lucha Underground’s roster for potential future seasons is currently in serious doubt, according to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer reported a lot of talent are currently very unhappy and want to leave the company. The main issue is the lack of pay since the Summer of 2016 when Season 3 was taped. Both Rey Mysterio and Ricochet’s contracts expired this week and neither are expected to be back when they officially become free agents in January 2018.
