Update on “Broken” Trademark Legal Status

Matt Hardy recently hired an IP lawyer and submitted new evidence for legal rights over the “Broken” trademark, according to PWInsider.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported this new piece of evidence was submitted by Matt Hardy’s lawyer on on October 31st and involved a promotional poster for CWF Mid-Atlantic Wrestling featuring Hardy as the “Broken Matt” character. This poster was from the Hardys’ “Expedition of Gold” tour which occurred in February of this year and prior to Anthem’s legal filing for the trademark.


Asuka Tops PWI Top Female 50 List for 2017

Pro Wrestling Illustrated announced that Asuka took the top spot for this year’s PWI Top Female 50 List and in the process, became the first Japanese female wrestler ever to do so in the ten year history of this award. She joins Kazuchika Okada as this year’s recipients for PWI’s top ranked honors in wrestling.

This was the first time in PWI’s “Female 50” history that the rankings were expanded to include female wrestlers from outside the United States and Canada. Others in the top 10 for 2017 were Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Io Shirai, Natalya, Sienna, Naomi, and Kairi Sane.

One of the greatest ever female wrestlers in history, Manami Toyota, officially retired from wrestling after Friday’s show for Oz Academy Women’s Professional Wrestling. To celebrate the special occasion, Toyota wrestled in 51 straight matches with one as a 5-on-1 handicap match and the rest as a gauntlet match each with a one minute time limit. A variety of opponents from Toyota’s past were involved in the gauntlet match meant to celebrate her long career in wrestling which started in 1987.

Ring of Honor announced Cody’s next ROH World Championship title defense will occur at ROH Elite pay-per-view event on November 11th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Cody will be defending the title against Rocky Romero who was the first to answer Cody’s open challenge for the championship.

November 7th will see the release of two wrestling themed documentaries with ESPN’s 30 For 30 documentary on Ric Flair to air at 10PM EST on ESPN and Fathom Entertainment’s “The Price of Fame” documentary on Ted DiBiase to be shown across movie theaters in the United States at 7:35PM EST.
