Paige Officially Pulled From Royal Rumble “Due to a Neck Injury”

WWE officially announced that Paige will not be wrestling in the Royal Rumble match “due to a neck injury.” It was reported last week that her WWE in-ring career is over after she suffered an injury at a house show a couple of weeks ago. Neither WWE or Paige have made a statement about that yet.

Paige unable to compete in first-ever 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match

As reported during tonight’s Monday Night Raw broadcast, Paige will not compete in this year’s historic 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match due to a neck injury.

Paige was at Raw tonight in a non-wrestling, non-physical role, accompanying Sonya Deville to the ring for Deville’s match. She looked like she was moving around fine and showed no outward signs that anything was wrong.

Paige mentioned on Lilian Garcia’s podcast a few weeks ago that her doctor advised her to stop wrestling after her neck surgery, in the interest of her long-term health, but she was officially cleared to return.

If she really wanted, she would likely be able to wrestle outside of WWE at some point, according to PWInsider. This is similar to the Daniel Bryan situation where WWE is being cautious and making the decision to not allow her to wrestle.

Regarding Sasha Banks, who kicked Paige in the back during a house show match, which caused the injury, there is reportedly no heat on her, PWInsider says. It was a spot that had been done several times, including the night before between Sasha and Paige, and was seen as something that could have happened with anyone.

Paige posted this photo on Twitter, but hasn’t publicly commented on this situation yet.
