Impact Championship
Austin Aries returned to Impact last night and defeated Eli Drake to become the new Impact World Champion.
On Impact’s website and other places, the title is sometimes still referred to as the “Global Championship.” On TV, they called it both the “Impact World Championship” and the “Impact World Heavyweight Championship.” On Twitter, they called it the “Impact World Heavyweight Championship.”
Austin Aries took issue with the “heavyweight” part, saying that his “first decree” as Impact Champion was that the title will be called the “Impact World Championship.”

My first decree as @IMPACTWRESTLING Champion. This will now be called the IMPACT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. No weight distinction. I’m not a heavyweight, but I am world class. And that is #TheTruth. https://t.co/89XFc2NJlk
