Vice TV to Air Weekly Wrestling Documentaries Starting This October

Vice TV will reportedly be airing a new series of wrestling-themed documentaries later this year, according to the Wrestling Observer.

The Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Newsletter that the network will be launching a new weekly documentary series focusing on professional wrestling starting on October 19th. This new series will be ten episodes in length and Gino Hernandez, Dino Bravo, The Von Erichs, and Bruiser Brody will be among those featured as subjects.

Meltzer also reported that the documentary planned for Hernandez will include a lot of stuff never reported before from his career and untimely death from a cocaine overdose. In regards to The Von Erichs documentary, Kevin Von Erich stated this will be the most candid he has ever been in regards to his family’s troubled past in wrestling.


Update on AAA’s Madison Square Garden Plans

As noted before, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) is currently planning to hold an event at Madison Square Garden. The company was reported to have two dates booked at the venue this year and is also considering plans to delay the event till 2019.

In an update to AAA’s MSG plans, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Newsletter that WWE currently does not have any plans to block AAA’s dates booked at the venue nor views the company as a threat to them in the United States. Meltzer also reported AAA is currently expected to cancel their September 16th date and their 2018 backup date in favor of a 2019 date due to the company needing more time to prepare for this event.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

Major League Wrestling announced a new match for the card of their July 19th event in Queens, New York. This was revealed to a singles match of Joey Ryan versus Maxwell J. Friedman (MJF) with the winner to be crowned as the company’s first World Middleweight champion.

Beyond Wrestling announced the card of their Americanrana 2018 event on July 29th in Worcester, Massachusetts features a singles match of PCO versus Brain Cage.

PCW Ultra announced the card of their July 27th event in Wilmington, California features a tag team match of Penta 0M & Warbeast versus OVE & Sami Callhan and a PCW Ultra Women’s Championship match of Britt Baker versus champion Tessa Blanchard.
