WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Update

As noted before, WWE recently revealed the cards for both nights of their upcoming United Kingdom Championship tournament in London, England. The card for Night One on June 18th features the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals of the tournament with the competitors to be revealed prior to the event.

In an update to this situation, WWE held several first round matches for their UK Championship tournament earlier today at the Download Festival with Zack Gibson defeating Amir Jordan, Flash Morgan Webster defeating James Drake, Travis Banks defeating El Ligero, and Ashton Smith defeating Joseph Conners. They join Jack Gallagher, who defeated Drew Gulak during last month’s set of NXT television tapings, in the tournament’s Quarterfinals. The remaining first round matches will be held this weekend at the Download Festival in Leicestershire, England.

Bret Hart Comments on WWE’s Hall of Fame and Who He Thinks Needs to be Included

United Kingdom radio station TalkSport held a recent interview with Bret Hart and one of the topics discussed involved Bret Hart’s thoughts on WWE’s Hall of Fame and which notable stars are currently missing from WWE’s Hall.

“Like a lot of people, if he’s [Owen Hart] not in the WWE Hall of Fame, then what kind of Hall of Fame is it? I’m embarrassed on their part they can take so many great wrestlers and not include them in the Hall of Fame.

I don’t have any problem with anyone who is in there, but I think Demolition should be in there, that Dynamite Kid should be in there, that Davey Boy should be in there. I’m embarrassed Owen isn’t in there. Owen was one of the most respected and admired in the business for his integrity alone. Why they won’t acknowledge him is beyond me?”
