The 95-second victory came as a result of an early takedown from Lawal, who worked his way inside of Petruzelli’s punches and kicks to put “The Silverback” on his posterior. Though Petruzelli initially did well to fire off short punches from the open guard, Lawal eventually stood up and threw his opponent’s legs to the side before raining down a wrecking ball of a right hand that instantly turned out Petruzelli’s lights. Apparently realizing the blow had accomplished its intended task, the former Strikeforce champion declined to follow up, instead walking away from his unconscious foe.

The performance grants “King Mo” passage to the Summer Series light heavyweight tournament finals, slated to take place July 31 at Bellator 97.

The word backstage at this week’s WWE TV tapings was that WWE creative team member David Kreizman is leaving the company. Before joining WWE, he was the co-head writer for All My Children and winner of several Daytime Emmy Wards. We’re told he gave notice over the last week or so.

Kreizman had been one of the top WWE creative team members since Eric Pankowski’s dismissal right before WrestleMania 29. Pankowski’s departure will mark the third lead writer in the last few months to leave the company. It should be noted that Kreizman is the first to leave on his own accord as the other two were fired.

– There are major staff changes currently taking place down in developmental. The belief among those in developmental is that Steve Keirn will no longer be involved when the move to Winter Park, Florida is made. There are some staffers who technically worked for FCW and not WWE who will be transferred to other positions or leaving the company altogether.

– Speaking of WWE developmental, the official launch date of the new Performance Center is currently set for July 8th, 2013. The talents have all been told to be in the Orlando, Florida area the first week of July.

On slowing down and thinking of retirement: “Yeah, some days. I recently hurt my neck really, really bad again and I had already broken my neck. It was just on an indie show and I came to the back and I was like ‘man, I’m hurt’. And I don’t want to be hurt in my life. I live pretty much – miraculously – pain-free and I don’t want to have a lesser quality of life. Wrestling takes a toll and I’ve destroyed my body already. I’ve broken so many bones. I’ve broke my neck, I broke my bad and I’ve yet to have a surgery and I’m still going. I want to be able to pick up my kids. I want to enjoy life and not always be in pain.”

On the “Tommy Dreamer” chants that popped up at the U.S. Open: “It was very funny. One, because The Sandman was there and he kept on texting me and was like ‘dude, make sure you watch Tiger’s putt it’s going to happen in 20 minutes’. But I was at an appearance in Long Island in the day and I was like just don’t get arrested. Tiger would be putting and he would just be screaming out my name and then there’s other people. It’s also in the Philadelphia area and my other friends are there. One guy is yelling and he’s filming it and the other guy starting yelling ‘Tommy Dreamer’ and says ‘doesn’t he have a show coming up soon? Yeah, House of Hardcore’. Then three guys start chanting House of Hardcore. Ridiculous but very, very funny.”

On people being excited with WWE recently: “It’s amazing. Most people have been very down on wrestling for quite some time and they’ll have those brief moments. This from Sunday and once they announced Rob Van Dam and with a good crowd in Chicago, such a perfect place. And the perfect time to bring back CM Punk. Then that Raw was fabulous. It reminded me a lot of the Attitude Era in the sense of I have to watch this program. I don’t know what’s going to happen or who’s going to show up. That’s what WWE 100% needs because you think about it, a lot of people were down on WWE for bringing in The Rock, we’re bringing in Undertaker or Triple H, Brock Lesnar, all these part-timers but if you think about it, you need those part-timers to help fill a huge stadium of WrestleMania. Again, no team wins without veterans, without guys in their prime and without rookies. And if anything was a great buzz of what, to me, what wrestling should be. More people have been talking about these last two episodes than I want to say these last two and a half, three months.”

On facing Rob Van Dam for possibly the last time for FWE this Friday: “Yep, I totally said that to myself the other day thinking this will probably be the last time I get to wrestle Rob. I love Rob. We’re great friends. I’m happy that Rob’s coming back (to WWE). I know I’m going to kicked really, really hard and I know I’ll be hitting him back really hard and in the end we’re going to really hug each other and just really, really take it back. I know for me it will be something really special.”

On whether he feels pressure to make each House of Hardcore show bigger than the previous one: “Yes. I never had gray hair in my beard until I worked in the WWE office and I call them my WWE’s. Then I started losing more hair when I, I don’t want to say I went out on my own, I started losing more hair when I did my first show and now I have more gray hair on the side of my head. If nothing else, I will definitely get a Just for Men bears and hair sponsorship out of this because I don’t like the salt and pepper look. I have very high expectations. I’m so wanting to up main events, up who I’m going to bring in.”

On a Possible Part-Time Return to WWE: “I would say ‘No, I want a full time run,’ because I love being on the road, I love working, I love doing live events, I love doing house shows. For someone who is semi-retired, between filming movies and doing independent shows and doing other things, I work all the time. So I don’t mind it. I’ve been doing this since I was 18 years old and I love being on the road. I still like competing and wrestling. If they wanted me to go full-time, I’d gladly go full time because there are a lot of guys I’d like to work with. So, part-time, no. Full-time, sure.”

On the Differences Between WWE, TNA and ECW: “Paul Heyman taught me the most and showed me; working for Paul was a blessing and a curse because he showed me a lot of the right ways to do business. Vince McMahon, I have like three houses because of Vince McMahon so he’s the most successful boss I’ve had because in ECW, I didn’t really make any money, really none of us did. Dixie Carter was very, very cool. Gave me a lot of responsibility at first. I wish that company would be a lot better than it is, but personally, Dixie Carter, I really, really like her. I had a great relationship with Vince, I still have a great relationship with Vince and I have a great relationship with Paul, so it’s all good. It’s not like I sit around, I’m not bitter or hate those people. A lot of people don’t understand that wrestling used to be solely based upon on your talent when there was other federations. If you were a good wrestler, you were rewarded. Yes, there were politics involved, but now it’s just really however is in charge likes you, that’s how a lot of guys have jobs. Your talent is most important to the fans and not the people behind the scenes, which is sad, but hopefully one day it will change.”

On House of Hardcore 2 in Philadelphia: “I would hope that it’s just as good as the first one. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from the talent. It was a great team effort. Most of the guys are handpicked, and I want the Philly fans; I always said that if I did the first one and it was successful, I would do another and I always wanted to go to Philly. I just want the Philly fans to be exactly who they are; some of the best wrestling fans in the world. If they don’t like something or someone, they’ll let them know it, and if they do like it, I want them to appreciate it. The saying is if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere, but if you make it in Philadelphia, you can make it anywhere. You’re kind of like a made man. I was born into this world as Tom Laughlin, but I’m mostly known as Tommy Dreamer, and Tommy Dreamer was born in Philadelphia. I love the city and I have such a connection with the place and they’re the greatest wrestling fans.”

Here are the latest updates on several WWE lawsuits:

* WWE has reportedly requested an extension in time to respond to a lawsuit filed against them by Landmark Technology, LLC. Landmark is alleging that the programming used by WWE on their online store was infringing on Landmark’s patented software. The lawsuit was filed in Texas.

* A lawsuit brought against WWE by James Papas over music he wrote for WCW, including the “Badstreet USA” theme, has a trial set for 9/22/14. The trial is expected to last four weeks. The court is said to be giving both sides until 1/31/14 to finish their Discovery. Both sides have until October of this year to attempt to mediate the issue. Papa’s alleges that WWE has been using WCW theme songs without permission and that credit and royalties for them being erroneously credited instead to WWE’s composer James Johnston. This case is filed in Texas.

* Adam Green, former WWE Digital Producer who is suing the WWE and the Big Show, has filed a motion to request that his lawsuit be remanded back to Arizona State court on 6/10. WWE tried to have the case moved to Federal Court. Green is now alleging that WWE put him into a dangerous situation with the Big Show by demanding he film an interview backstage. In the interview, Show lost his temper and forced Green to film it over again. Green claims that he had to quit because he was too scared to continue working for the company and that he was not paid for his involvement in the video that aired on WWE.com. After the court rules on Green’s request, WWE will have 14 days to respond to his claims.

There’s nothing he can’t do… Lex Luger, aesthetically he trained to look good like I was doing, but he had freakish strength as well. I saw him squat 500 easily. I saw him bench 405 for reps. It was easy for him. I saw him incline 405. He was just a really strong guy.”

On working out: “I trained for size. That’s all I was training for. My knees are arthritic now. I don’t have a whole lot of flexibility left. Thankfully, I got smart somehow or another in 1990 and stopped taking steroids – totally stopped. A lot of the guys I ran with all those years continued to take steroids year after year – those guys are having their knees and their hips replaced. I’m not saying everybody who gets their knees and their hips replaced took steroids. I just noticed that the guys who did that were too big, too bulky, too heavy, and the body couldn’t handle it and it took its toll. So that was my one saving grace, but I would train differently now. I’m actually doing pretty good for a guy my age – I just turned 54 – and I’m still hanging in there. I can move a little bit in the ring.”

On how long he will wrestle: “I’ve learned not to give a time. I can’t go on wrestling much longer. I’m taking it, literally, one month at a time. I’m under contract until January of next year, so we’ll see what’s happening. I do want to do more movies. I’m looking at a few different things, reality shows being one of them. I’m just trying to move onto the next season of my life. As far as wrestling goes, I’ve stayed away from the creative part of it all these years, I just don’t want to sit in on the meetings and babysit wrestlers and personalities and all that. But, there are things I’d like to see happen in pro wrestling and I may try to make it materialize. I don’t know. ”

Initial hesitation about writing a book:

“It’s funny because I really didn’t think about putting out a book until I started thinking about it and sharing road stories, and reflecting back. You know? I was just a midcard guy, who wants to read what Bob Holly’s got to say.” Bob went on to say, when he decided to do the book he knew that he should get in touch with ECW Press because they put out a lot of wrestling books.

On becoming famous and trying to find the balance of still being a regular guy:

“What a lot of people don’t know about me until they read my book is, I’m a welder by trade, I’ve worked regular jobs, I’ve worked hard. I did what I had to do and I’ve sacrificed to make ends meet. So I’ve been there where a lot of people are now. I appreciate those people because I know what they are going through, same thing I did. I didn’t give up, I worked my ass off on very little sleep, worked a regular job while trying to make it in wrestling, Traveling up and down the road. People can relate to that.”

Life on the road & not being home with your family:

“It’s hard no matter what. It’s nice to having Twitter, Cell Phones & Skype but it’s not the same as being home. Your family wants you home. When you’re gone it’s just not fun.” Bob was also asked about what it’s like to be away from his children specifically. “I was gone 30-40 days on one tour, I’d come home for 1-2 days and I’d be gone again. You miss all the good years, I missed all the years of her going to school and doing certain things in grade school and high school. When she graduated I was able to fly home just in time to get to the ceremony to see her graduate and then I was right back on a plane to go back to work”

Response to Heidenreich’s comments about him in 2007:

“The reason he lost his job was because of him, the biggest downfall was he was supposed to be at TV at 1pm and he shows up at 7pm. They had big plans for him and Animal. He shows up at 7pm and then threatens to beat up Johnny (Ace) then threatens to beat up Vince so they got rid of him.” Then Bob was asked about Heidenreich’s criticism of him working stiff with Rene Dupree and Heidenreich saying he was going to bash Bob’s head in. “He’s had the opportunity so many times to bash my head in. When that thing happened with me and Rene Dupree he was nowhere to be found, he had nothing to say about it. He was there at the time that stuff went down, he never said anything to me. He’s just talking tough from a million miles away.”

Daniel Bryan starts off by talking about Raw on Monday and having his match stopped. He claims he’s never had a match stopped before and feels it only happened because he is considered the “weak link”. Bryan went on to say that Randy Orton should never have accepted the official’s decision but instead he “tapped me on the head like a dog”. Tonight, he wants to face Randy Orton and prove that he is not the weak link. Orton comes out and claims he helped Bryan on Monday “out of respect” but tonight, Bryan will be wheeled out on a stretcher.

Sheamus def. Cody Rhodes. Damien Sandow tried to distract Sheamus but in the end Sheamus made Rhodes submit to the Cloverleaf. After the match, Sandow attacked Sheamus.

Another Wyatt promo was shown.

Curtis Axel def. Wade Barrett. After the match, Miz tried to challenge Axel but Heyman intervened and said that his client doesn’t fight for free.

AJ Lee def. Natalya. AJ locked in the Black Widow for the submission victory.

Backstage, Aksana was bugging Kaitlyn so Kaitlyn beat her up.

Alberto Del Rio def. Chris Jericho via DQ. Both Rodrigo and Dolph Ziggler interfered causing the disqualification. After the match, Del Rio ran away and Jericho ended up hitting the Codebreaker on Ziggler. Del Rio then came back to assault Ziggler and stood over him.

Christian def. Drew McIntyre via the Killswitch. After the match, Christian did some mic work about being back but The Shield came out and triple powerbombed him.

A good backstage interview with Paul Heyman done by Rene Young. Heyman was not happy about being asked about the issues with CM Punk and didn’t want to talk about it on TV.

Daniel Bryan def. Randy Orton. I can’t remember how this one ended but I think Orton missed the RKO, so Bryan hit a suicide dive to the outside on Orton and then got back into the ring, causing Orton to be counted out.

After the match, Bryan asked for the match to be restarted but the referee refuses and walks off.

On Mark Henry’s Retirement Swerve: “The Mark Henry ‘retirement’ segment was Monday Night Raw gold and will go down in history as one of the all time, great Raw moments as far as I’m concerned. I’ve see a few in my time for ther record. The TV viewer’s perception of any storyline or performance is dependent solely on the execution by the talent. UPDATE: There are conflicting reports on what went down between Triple H and Daniel Bryan backstage at RAW Monday night. As seen on RAW, Randy Orton defeated Daniel Bryan after the referee stopped the match as Bryan appeared to be injured. It was later revealed that he suffered a “stinger”. As reported, the finish was a legit “shoot” as the original outcome had Bryan pinning Orton clean. This was being done to continue pushing Daniel Bryan as they have major plans for him this summer and he’s expected to headline SummerSlam against John Cena.

After the match was over, Daniel Bryan was said to have been “irate” backstage and approached Triple H at the gorilla position. The two got into a heated shouting match with Bryan saying he’s wrestled all over the world and knows how far he can go and how injured he really was. Triple H countered that they were protecting Bryan and didn’t want anyone hurt, especially with major plans in place for him. The two eventually apologized to each other and Bryan is backstage at SmackDown tonight, where he will face Dean Ambrose as scheduled. There were several witnesses to this with a lot of them “shocked” to see Bryan so upset. Backstage, he’s known as a “soft spoken, easy going” guy who never causes any issues. They were shocked at the fact that he was standing up to someone as high up as Triple H. WWE.com posted a video with Triple H late last night where he addressed the issue. The question is – were Triple H and Daniel Bryan “in on it” and set up a “shoot” atmosphere backstage? That now seems unlikely as the injury, which was legitimate, obviously wasn’t planned beforehand and the backstage argument would have never occurred if he wasn’t injured in the first place.

– The 6/10 WWE RAW ranked among the top 10 shows on cable last week for the week ending 6/16/13. The three hours of RAW ranked 6, 7 and 10. As noted last Monday here on the website, the show drew a final 3.04 (3.) cable rating with an average audience of 3.99 million viewers.

– UPDATE: WWE RAW drew a final 3.0 cable rating, with an average of 4.15 million viewers. That is down 1% from last week.

Last night on RAW, WWE started the CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar feud. The feeling at this time is that their first one on one match will take place at SummerSlam and not Money in the Bank. The company is looking to hold it there for a few reasons.

First of all, the Money in the Bank PPV traditionally does well on its own, and doesn’t need the addition of Punk vs. Lesnar.

Secondly, WWE feels that Paul Heyman, CM Punk, and Brock Lesnar can keep the interest of the fans until SummerSlam and that the feud and match has a chance to make money for them in the long run.

On Curtis Axel’s IC Title win: Good for Cutis Axel, the new IC Champion. I wish some cynical fans would stop second guessing every more this kid makes until he can get a little farther down the road in his career journey. I’m confident he will evolve into a significant asset for WWE.

On the Dolph Ziggler/Alberto Del Rio feud: The Ziggler vs. Del Rio match had some psychological qualities of the WM13 bout between Bret Hart and Stone Cold. Great in ring storytelling that provides more questions than answers and plenty of follow up material for episodic TV. Del Rio seems more comfortable in the antagonist tole than he does as a fan favorite. However, I do think that many Hispanic fans will still support their countryman. I’m more interested in the personas of both ADR and Ziggler now than I was prior to Payback.

On Rob Van Dam’s WWE return at Money in the Bank: With the return of RVD to MITB in July and coming off the heels of a strong Payback PPV, it seems as if WWE is building discernable momentum and potential, potent, PPV selling storylines for Summer Slam in LA.
