– Shannon Rose sent this in: Mean Queen of Wrestling Inks New PR Deal (Tampa, FL) – Eclectic Media Productions, one of the fastest-growing and most aggressive public relations companies in the country, has announced the signing of international pro wrestler Awesome Kong as a new client. Awesome Kong, multiple-time Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Women’s Knockout Champion and the first and only woman to hold the AWA and NWA World Women’s titles simultaneously, is happy to be represented by Eclectic Media Productions (EMP). “Their professionalism, track record and ideas sold me,” Awesome Kong said of her new alliance with EMP, in which the company will utilize its resources to continue to maintain and intensify Awesome Kong’s reputation as one of the most dynamic personalities in pro wrestling today. Awesome Kong is widely recognized within the industry as a wrestler with huge star power and overwhelming tenacity and ferocity. Awesome Kong is also in high demand internationally due to her success in Japan where she held many titles. “Adding Awesome Kong has made an already good year better for us,” Shannon Rose (Owner of EMP) said of his company and its rapid rise since forming. Eclectic Media Production’s signing of Awesome Kong is considered a key move for Rose’s company because pro wrestling and entertainment observers believe that not only is she among the most scintillating figures in the sport today, but that she’s likely to maintain that status well into the future. For interview requests involving Awesome Kong, contact Shannon Rose at (813) 960-8412, (813) 389-0801, or info@mediaproductions.tv.

» While nothing has been confirmed yet, the names being heavily considered for the Class of 2010 WWE Hall of Fame next year are Ted DiBiase (who is considered to be a strong possibility), The Road Warriors, Demolition and Slick. There were some rumors that The Ultimate Warrior and Lex Luger are under consideration after they were placed on the WWE Alumni page over on WWE.com. Another name that was considered a possibility was The Honky Tonk Man since he is from the Phoenix area. Bob Armstrong is another name that was thrown out on Smackdown recently and seems to be under consideration as well. The actual voting process is done by some of Vince McMahon’s closest advisers, but Vince ultimately picks and chooses on his own.

» There is said to be some concern within WWE over Adam “Edge” Copeland and his injury recovery. The hope was that he would make it back before WrestleMania, but as things stand now it doesn’t appear to be a lock. Edge stated in a recent interview that this was the worst injury (Achilles heel tendon) he has had to recover from during his career, while others have noted that this is a rare kind of injury where you can’t rush back too soon if you are not ready.

Rodrigo “Comprido” Medeiros, a 7-time World Jiu-Jitsu champion, told TMZ that Lesnar “is getting better and that is the most important thing … He will be fine and be fighting again within 6 months.”

Medeiros added, “I can just say that the heavyweights can stop laughing and get ready to start crying because the champion will be back soon.”

Lesnar had surgery earlier this week to repair a hole in his intestine. While Lesnar is still in rough shape and has a long road ahead of him, the outlook has improved dramatically from last week when Dana White was saying that Lesnar is “very very sick” and may never fight again.

Welcome to the first edition of the FCW TV Recap on The People’s Wrestling Website! Each week, I’ll be issuing an as-I-watch report of Florida Championship Wrestling’s weekly television show. For those of you who don’t know, FCW is the development system for World Wrestling Entertainment operating out of the “FCW Arena” in Tampa. Over the last year or so, FCW has contributed WWE stars like Jack Swagger, Sheamus, Yoshi Tatsu, Drew McIntyre, Eric Escobar, Tyler Reks, Abraham Washington, Savannah, and more.

The 11/15 show kicks off with the requisite crowd shot of fans chanting FCW before going to Byron Saxton and Wade Barrett at the announce table. They hype Eric Escobar versus Yoshi Tatsu in a SmackDown-versus-ECW main event.

Dawson Alexander makes his way to the ring in a new getup. Apparently the days of Dawson Alexander Esq. are over, to be replaced by a man in a skull hoody with a star shaved into the side of his head. This is Jennifer Hudson’s fiancé. No, for real. That’s not kayfabe. He has a developmental deal with WWE. His opponent is Wes Brisco, son of Gerry Brisco, one of about a billion (approximate) second- or third-generation FCW stars. They feel each other out to start until they go into a brief catch-as-catch can sequence with Brisco rolling Dawson up for two. Armbar from the oddly-tattooed Brisco. Armdrag by Dawson, but Brisco rolls through and now he’s got him on the mat in the armbar. Dawson pushes him into the ropes for a break, then snaps Brisco’s neck off the top rope. Apparently Dawson has turned heel? Gotta love FCW!

Clothesline in the corner then a sharp lariat for two. Wes Brisco’s tattoos are throwing me off. They’re like Undertaker and Orton’s arm tattoos… but on his legs. Shoulderblock from Brisco, then a back elbow and another shoulder tackle. Hooks him in the front chancery and lands a suplex for two. Seriously. The tattoos are weird. It’s like he waded into an ink pool. Dawson goes for a chokeslam, but Wes catches him as though preparing for a Diamond Cutter, but Dawson hits a standing spinebuster for the win.

Dawson Alexander is your winner, and Savannah is at ringside for an interview. “Dawson, you have been turning quite a few heads here in FCW. And it looks like you’re ready to take the next step to becoming a superstar.”

“Becoming a superstar? I already am a superstar. I know you watched me on ‘I Love New York.’ I’ve been on like all the major reality talk shows. Oprah, you name it. Cover of the most famous magazines. Even designers pay me to wear their clothes. I don’t know how to tell you this, but: I’m kind of a big deal. I mean, look at this poster…” At this point, he points to the giant banner advertising Florida Heavyweight Champion Justin Angel. “It’s about time FCW realized what a hot commodity I am. I mean, you have a real celebrity right here. So they better get on the same page, ‘cause that should be my face up there. I should be the face of FCW.”

Okay, so they’ve finally given Dawson a gimmick, which is a good start, but his promo work needs some work. It always takes me out of the moment when someone giving a speech or cutting a promo or whatever injects “like” into a sentence. Also, quoting “Anchorman?” Really? Although I guess if they keep this up, they could feud him with Miz when they call him up or team them up as some sort of reality-TV team.

Back from commercial, the queen of FCW Mia Mangini comes out to team with Dylan Klein for a mixed-tag match. Wade Barrett puts over how tough Mia is, saying that Klein is very brave for teaming with her, because he’ll be “sleeping with the fishes” if they lose. Their opponents are AJ Lee and Skip Sheffield. Skip Sheffield is a strange story. He first appeared on WWE TV as one of the participants in the last Tough Enough. He was the insanely ripped guy, Ryan Reeves. He was signed to a developmental contract earlier this year and was brought in as Ryback, sort of a vaguely-futuristic killing machine brought in to take out Tyler Reks when Reks was the FCW Champion. Now, two weeks ago, Ryback is gone and we’re treated to a “new” superstar, Skip Sheffield, who is what Jimmy Wang Yang would be if he were white. It’s so weird. Because he’s still this muscular monster of a man, but now he’s wearing a cowboy hat and firing off lame catchphrases like “Yup yup yup” and “What it do.” Very strange. Okay, time to unpause the DVR.

Wade Barrett hates Skip with a passion, and Saxton makes fun of him for it. The Divas start the match. Mia takes AJ down with a waistlock takeover, then just throws her around the ring by her waist. AJ gets off a couple of elbows in the corner, then a wrist drag. The announcers hype Mia’s big win over Gail Kim last week as she slams AJ down for two. Wade speculates that we may never see the male participants because Mia’s going to make short work of AJ. AJ goes for a sunset flip, and Mia tries the sit-down splash. AJ catches her with a dropkick, and in come the men as a “What it do” chant begins. Skip sends Klein into the corner for an avalanche clothesline. Skip gets Klein up on his shoulders to set up for the Over The Shoulder Boulder Holder (swear to God, that’s the name of the move), but Mia slaps him in the face.

Skip drops Klein and turns his attention to the queen, but Klein hits what I think was supposed to be a bulldog but wound up looking more like a flying clothesline to the back of the head. Mudhole stomps in the corner now and Skip’s “Yup yup yup” is becoming a “nope nope nope.” Klein works Skip over with stomps and punches, then clamps on a variation on the sleeper. The crowd starts to get behind Skip, and he powers out of it, then backdrops Klein. Mia tags herself in, but eats a spinning headscissor. A pair of big clotheslines from AJ, who misses a kick, but catches her on the rebound. Nice spot! Only a count of two, though. Mia clamps on a chancery, but AJ hits an Asai DDT out of nowhere for the win. Nice!

Skip picks up AJ and spins her around as the announcers hype how huge an upset it is for AJ Lee to pin Mia Mangini. Skip dances awkwardly while they hype Heath Slater and Joe Hennig for tonight, former tag partners going one-on-one. This should be good. Both former Florida Heavyweight Champions, both pretty close to ready for their WWE close-up.

Back from commercial, Slater is making his entrance. This guy is very exciting. He’s young, energetic, and he’s got a good look. Saxton says that Slater is obsessed with Angel, the man who beat him for the title. He’s got a puffy right eye. Don’t know where that came from. The “Mr. Perfect” music hits, then turns into Joe Hennig’s entrance theme. The crowd starts chanting “Joe! Joe! Joe!” as he enters. Saxton points out that Hennig beat Slater in a non-title contest when Slater was champion.

These two circle each other, then go into a collar-and-elbow while Wade talks about Slater’s sex appeal. Single-leg takedown by Joe, but Slater gets to the ropes, then shoves him. Hennig gives chase as Slater goes to the floor. A couple of punches, then Joe sends Slater back in for more punches. Hennig hits a Stinger splash, then a clothesline to the back of the head. Saxton speculates as to why Hennig never got another title shot after he was stripped. Barrett talks about how he faked the injury that put him out for three months because he cracked under the pressure of being champion. Joe hits a huge dropkick, very much like his dad’s.

Barrett says that Slater’s black eye coincides with a “massive concussion” he suffered over the weekend. Joe does the push up in the corner, but Slater catches him and hits a sort of reverse Codebreaker. Very nice spot. Never seen anything like it. Slater stays on it with stomps while Barrett thinks that Joe might have internal injuries. Snapmare, then a kneeling abdominal stretch, and Joe is in bad shape. Barrett is really putting over that move from Slater. Barrett’s a solid worker, but his commentary skills are very good for someone who hasn’t been doing it long. Schoolboy from Joe after escaping for two. Backslide for two, but Heath blasts him with a knee to the face, then a double-kneedrop to the midsection. Slater really working the ribs and Hennig sells it well.

Back on their feet, Slater charges Hennig, but Joe moves and Slater hits the top rope hard. Back elbows from Joe, who clutches his midsection after each one, then a big belly-to-belly for two. Joe is very slow to get up, but he stays on Slater with punches. Ref bump in the corner! Slam by Joe, followed by the Perfect running snapmare. Joe checks on the ref, and Heath’s got a chair. Joe steps on it to keep him from using it, then grabs the chair for himself as the ref regains consciousness and sees him holding it over a prone Slater. DQ win for Slater, and he rubs it in from ringside. Very good match with a pretty lame ending. They hype the main event tonight, then talk about a six-man match pitting Angel, Reks, and Mister FCW (???) against Alex Riley, Michael Tarver, and Eli Cottonwood.

After the break, the heels come to the ring. Riley’s wearing his letterman jacket, but he’s without his valet/girlfriend Beverly. Michael Tarver once again works his boxer/MMA gimmick. Eli Cottonwood lumbers out in his Sanitarium jacket, looking like the slow-moving wrestling-impaired hoss he is. Riley and Cottonwood beat Gabriel (former ECW star DJ Gabriel, a.k.a. Steve Lewington) last week to put Gabriel out of FCW for good. Barrett hates Gabriel, so he’s very happy for Riley. Angel and Reks come out next. The crazy woman by the entrance that screams all the time goes nuts when Angel comes through the curtain. The champ asks for the mic. “So, as you can see, there are only two of us. So, as the FCW Heavyweight Champion, I took it upon myself to find us a suitable partner for this six-man extravaganza. Now, I searched everywhere in the back. So, without further ado, from Parts Unknown, Mister FCW!” Good thing Angel’s awesome in the ring.

The masked Mister FCW comes through the curtain. It’s very clearly Gabriel wearing a mask. He’s even still wearing the sparkly tights. It’s like Mister America without Hulk Hogan. Barrett smells a rat while Saxton talks about this exciting new superstar. Tarver looks confused as he starts the match with FCW. Side headlock by Tarver. Interesting (or not. Probably not, actually) fact – Tarver was part of Saxton’s Conglomerate stable that feuded with Johnny Prime last year. As was Lawrence Knight, who is now Wade Barrett. And Saxton went overnight from being a heel manager to the down-the-middle play-by-play guy once Josh Mathews got called up to the big dance. I love developmental wrestling, because they really are throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Headlock takedown by FCW while Barrett talks about his tiny hands. FCW hits a delayed vertical suplex for a one count. Barrett says that FCW’s tiny hands, physique, and “feminine” features have helped him realize that it’s Gabriel! Saxton plays along with the “no it’s not, it’s Mister FCW!” gag as Reks tags in for the High Tide Elbow for two. Tarver escapes a slam, then kicks him in the midsection. He whips Tarver into Eli on the apron. Reks fights off Tarver and Riley, but Cottonwood trips his ankle, causing him to slam face-first into the apron. Tarver pounds on Reks on the floor, then rolls him back in for two. Barrett’s still pissed that Gabriel’s back. Eli comes back in and hits Reks. Then hits him again. And again. Elbow to the head. The ref pushes him back while Riley kicks Tyler in the head. FCW goes for the save, but it allows a triple-team. Big whip from Eli, who tags in Riley. Wow, top-notch work from the bearded giant.

Riley hits a snap suplex on the former champion for two. He steps between Reks and his partners, which was pretty good psychology, then an awkward clothesline to Reks that catches the side of his head. Barrett plays up the fact that hitting him in the side of the head is potentially more damaging. Nice cover-up by the color man! Rear chinlock from Riley, who Saxton calls the Varsity Villain. Reks fights to his feet and hits a DDT. Reks wants the hot tag, but Riley’s got his ankle. Tag to Angel, who hits a pair of kicks, then a jumping back kick to the chin. Riley knees him in the midsection, bu Angel fires off a shot of his own. Riley goes for a leapfrog, but Angel slams on the brakes, only to get tripped by Eli. He’s craaaaaaaaaazy! Tag to Mister FCW. Big European uppercut by FCW, who then grabs Riley for the Vindicator! Mister FCW picks up the win for his trio.

Decent match that was basically a showcase for Mister FCW. Riley carried the match for the heels, and it was disappointing to not see much of the champion. Plus, Eli did a grand total of diddly-squat. Which is probably good because he couldn’t bring the match down with his lack of mobility and… you know, skill. Up next, it’s our main event, pitting SmackDown!’s Eric Escobar against ECW’s Yoshi Tatsu!

Eric Escobar is on his way to the ring as we come back from break. Barrett says that it’s not easy being sleazy, but Escobar is doing a great job of it. Yoshi Tatsu is out next, and Barrett makes fun of his entrance music. I’ve decided tonight that I officially love Wade Barrett. Escobar pounces on Tatsu early with forearms and elbows to the back. Yoshi slides between his legs, then hits a Japanese armdrag followed by a more traditional drag. The announcers put over Tatsu’s kicks as the most dangerous in sports entertainment. Saxton calls Escobar one of the “founding fathers” of FCW.

Tatsu with an elaborate roll-up for two, but Escobar goes back on the offensive with punches and kicks in the corner. Tatsu pushes up in the corner, then a drop toehold and a Mahistral cradle. Armbar by Yoshi that Escobar turns into a whip. Tatsu tries a dropkick, but Escobar dodges and goes back to work with stomps. Barrett says that the crowd goes bananas for Tatsu, which is something he doesn’t understand. “What, you don’t like bananas?” Nice line from Saxton.

Escobar stomp stomp stomp stomps on Tatsu. Thrilling. The announcers talk about the rags-to-riches stories of the two competitors while Escobar continues to stomp stomp stomp knee knee knee punch punch punch. It’s weird. Escobar wasn’t awful when he was FCW champion. Since going to WWE, he’s way less entertaining. Maybe he just works better as a face? Stompy punchy kicky blah blah blah. Sends Tatsu headfirst into the corner, then a shoulder to the midsection. Tatsu sends Escobar into the corner for a running knee. Rolling snapmare sets up a big kick to Escobar’s chest. Barrett says that Escobar looks knackered. “He looks hurt to me!” Saxton is keeping up better with Barrett than he was at the beginning of the show. Tatsu clotheslines Escobar to the floor. Both men are down outside, which I thought was going to be the segue for a commercial, but I guess they’re staying with it till the finish. Escobar sends Tatsu hard into the ring steps. Oh, wait, no, commercial time.

We get a replay of Tatsu hitting the steps. Back in the ring, Escobar has a bearhug clamped on. Thrilling. Tatsu fights out of it with punches. Escobar does a good job of looking rocked by the punches, then hits a leg lariat for two. Punchy punchy punchy. Escobar does a pretty nice crawling headbutt, shades of Junk Yard Dog. Sends Tatsu to the corner with the hard Irish whip. He must have held R1. Yoshi tries to fight back, but kicky punchy knee-y. (Knee-y? Okay, doesn’t work so hot) The announcers talk about how the SD and ECW stars are watching this. I pity them. I love Tatsu, but Escobar is showing me nothing in this match, other than the headbutt. Another bearhug, but Tatsu hits a nice spinning DDT. Both men are down.

Tatsu ducks a punch, then fires off a series of kicks, ending with a Rico Constantino-style spinning back kick, then a spinning back elbow for two. Flying headscissor turned into the Octopus by Tatsu! Escobar grabs the ropes for the break, but Tatsu lights him up with a couple of chops. Kick and knee from Escobar, and Yoshi’s down. Back up, Yoshi heads up top, but Escobar runs underneath him, eats a kick, and hits a Sky Hi on Yoshi for a long two. Nice way of selling the pin by Saxton and Barrett, making it look like the end of the match.

Escobar hits a powerslam, but Yoshi rolls through it for two. Escobar hits the Puerto Rican Necktie, but doesn’t go for the pin because he’s too busy slapping the mat. Mafia kick from Escobar, but Tatsu grabs the bottom rope to break up the pin. He goes for the Mafia kick again, but Yoshi blasts him with a standing kick to the face. Escobar collapses and Yoshi gets the win. Nice sell job on the kick. As Yoshi celebrates, Saxton hypes next week’s main event – Heath Slater finally gets his rematch against Justin Angel for the Florida Heavyweight Championship!

Stock footage of Gordon Solie thanks us for watching, and now I’m going to do the same. Hit-and-miss show tonight that was definitely highlighted by the Hennig/Slater match. I think Slater’s ready for a call-up and Hennig is probably only another month or two away (if he can stay healthy). Slater reminds me a lot of a young edge, and Hennig is doing an effective job of becoming somebody other than Curt’s son. A little disappointed by a lack of Dudebusters (my favorite FCW tag team), though. Maybe next week. See you next week!

WWE Hall of Famer and Hollywood heavyweight Dwayne “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson says he’s working with WWE on a special television project that would be in addition to guest-hosting a future episode of WWE Raw. During a Thursday morning radio appearance on the syndicated Jack Diamond Morning Show, Johnson was vague on the details but hinted that the project will be significant.

“I love that world and being able to entertain, especially if I could go back whether it’s on Smackdown and do a promo or guest-host or we could create this cool show, whatever that may be,” Johnson said. “Especially now, I’m at the point where I can go back and give back to the fans and help out the guys in any way I can.”

Johnson said he and Vince McMahon have a great relationship and he’s looking forward to working with WWE again in the future. “Right now we’re trying to put together – there is always something cool and interesting for me to do.

UFC President Dana White spoke to Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday and provided yet another update on Brock Lesnar’s health status. While it was reported earlier this week that Lesnar was suffering from a bacterial infection in his intestines, it turns out he actually had a hole in his intestine and has not been 100% for an entire year.

“Brock was in big pain, he was hurting…. We don’t know if he’ll ever fight again. He had a hole in his intestine. The (stuff) was leaking into his stomach. That’s what was causing him so much pain. That and he had abscesses. The doctor told him he hasn’t been right for a year. His immune system has been trying to fight this thing and that’s why he was susceptible to getting sick…. We’ll find out more next week. We’re going to send him to the Mayo Clinic for a couple of days. I don’t know what to say. It’s looking better now than last week, but what that means, I don’t know.”

Brock Lesnar is scheduled to visit the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN early next week for a battery of tests. His trainer Greg Nelson spoke to the Star Tribune this week and said, “No one can tell, but it seems right now it’s something he’ll definitely recover from.” While this should be considered good news, Nelson stressed that it’s too early to tell when Lesnar will fight again. This also could be ‘damage control’ from Lesnar’s camp.

Other notes from Dana White include:

On His Current Status: “The family was worried big time, they were freaking out. We don’t know if he’ll ever fight again.”

On What They Found: “He had a hole in his intestine,” White said. “The (stuff) was leaking into his stomach. That’s what was causing him so much pain. That and he had abscesses. The doctor told him he hasn’t been right for a year. His immune system has been trying to fight this thing and that’s why he was susceptible to getting sick.”

On Brock’s Future: “If he’s done what he’s done at less than 100 percent, then imagine how he’ll be if he is 100 percent.”

No shit? Just hours after the Flair attack, Hogan showed up at the Sydney Football Stadium for another press conference looking “fit and healthy.” Australia’s Wentworth Courier newspaper reports that Hogan told reporters, “It took me about half an hour to get freshened up before I ran back out, it got a bit crazy.

WWE announcer Jerry Lawler tells the UK Sun that even if Jim Ross is healthy and able to return to work in the coming months, WWE will probably hold off on bringing him back to the announcer’s table until WrestleMania 26 next year. “There’s a strong possibility that WrestleMania could be when he makes a return,” Lawler said. “Even if it’s a situation where he could return a little bit before that, it might be best to just wait and let him come back at Mania — as the comeback of JR would be a big draw.” Lawler repeated what JR said in a recent blog, that it will two or three months to become “facially ready” for TV again. Lawler says Ross’s voice sounds fine over the phone and someone on the other end wouldn’t know he’s only able to talk out of one side of his mouth. “I texted him last night, and spoke with him this past week, and he’s doing better but says it will probably be a few months before he’s facially ready to be back on television,” Lawler said. “But when you talk to him, when you just hear his voice, you can’t tell. He doesn’t have slurred speech any more.”

Paul Burchill and Katie Lee have both been removed from the WWE roster on WWE.com.

On February 6th, WWE will run the coliseum at the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex in Waco, Texas. Tickets will go on sale December 12th at 10AM

Cody sent this along: I’ve been watching past episodes of Smackdown on Hulu, and have noticed some things that are different from your reports. Namely, on at least one occasion, WWE completely ignored a storyline! Specifically, after not seeing Khali and Kane for one episode in August, the next episode features Kane talking about what he did to Khali’s brother, even though to Hulu viewers, he didn’t do anything to Ranjin Singh that week, and it was never revealed that Singh was Khali’s brother! All of the sound bites referencing the storyline from JR and Grisham during matches the week of the kidnapping are gone as well. So WWE has basically erased that storyline. I wonder what else they’ve deleted?

WWE recently contacted The Gingerbread House, and had them create a gingerbread wrestling ring and wrestlers that will be used as the photograph for the company’s annual Christmas card. You can read the full story at http://www.kttc.com/

– As always, I just wanted to thank you all for your support of the website. We owe it all to you as there would be no us without all of you. Thanks again! You can email me at Webmaster@ProWrestlingSCOOPS.com. If you’ve got a newsbit please pass it along. We’ll try to confirm it and then post it here on the website with credit to you.

– As noted earlier, the 11/16 edition of RAW did a 3.5 cable rating. In a follow-up, the second hour went up which is obviously good news. The show did hours of 3.37 and 3.56. Keep in mind though that the show went WAY over the 11:07EST normal end time.

– The 11/14 edition of AM RAW did a 0.6 rating.

– Former Ring of Honor booker Gabe Sapolsky, who is now with Dragon Gate USA and introducing the new “EVOLVE” wrestling promotion, has a new blog up on his official MySpace at MySpace.com/ROHGabe criticizing last night’s WWE Smackdown tapings in Philadelphia. “I stopped by the Smackdown taping last night and left after CM Punk’s promo. Punk was great, but the taping sucked. Most of the wrestlers were robotic (stop at top of ramp, pose, walk into ring, ignore entire crowd and turn to hard cam, pose, turn back to ramp and wait for opponent). Everything was formulaic. I sat there for two hours from the opening bell waiting through dead time between matches and endless videos before Smackdown actually started. However, it wasn’t all bad as Tommy Dreamer is still over in Philly and Punk is a superstar. Anyway, my point. I saw some crappy wrestling lately that turned me off to the business. Now this weekend there are three cards and I’m looking forward to every match on each of them.”

– WWE star Chris Jericho actually replied to these criticisms by Sapolsky adding, “Dammit if Gabe Sapolsky wasn’t impressed, then what chance does the WWE have to survive even one more day??? Breadline, here I come…” Ouch Gabe, ouch!

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 – by Steven Marrocco – MMAWeekly.com

Brock Lesnar has returned home after having surgery for an infection in his intestinal tract.

Larry Novotny, a friend of Lesnar, on Tuesday told ABC affiliate KSAX-TV that the UFC heavyweight champion is recuperating after an 11-day stay in a local hospital where he underwent several tests and “a minor surgery.” Lesnar’s primary home is in Alexandria, Minn.

Novotny said Lesnar may need to undergo further surgery, but would see how the healing process went. At that point, a decision would be made whether Lesnar would be able to continue fighting.

Lesnar sent a message to his fans through Novotny, saying, “he is getting better and contrary to some rumors that he had died, he is on the mend.”

The pro-wrestler turned MMA fighter collapsed at his home in Canada last week after battling what was thought to be a bad case of mononucleosis. The incident forced the indefinite postponement of his second title defense, against Shane Carwin. Last month, Lesnar withdrew from his headlining bout with Carwin at UFC 106 when the illness first struck.

UFC president Dana White on Tuesday confirmed Lesnar’s surgery and said the champion was recovering, but was unsure of his future.

We have more on the Lesnar situation including the possibility that he’ll be stripped of the UFC title as well as Bobby Lashley’s recent talks with UFC. Is Lashley going to replace Lesnar in UFC? The answer may surprise you. You can get all the details on Lesnar, Lashley, and UFC at this link.

From comedians to politicians to musical performers to professional athletes, Monday Night Raw’s weekly guest hosts are some of past and present’s finest entertainers. The WWE Universe, therefore, can expect this trend to continue as more and more of the most popular celebrities are hopping aboard to serve as Raw special host.

Nov. 23, 2009: Jesse Ventura
This week, WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura will take the reins from Hershey, Pa., on a special Thanksgiving three-hour presentation of Raw. The illustrious Superstar’s role comes just more than one week before the debut of Ventura’s new truTV series, Conspiracy Theory, which airs on Dec. 2 at 10 p.m. ET.

Nov. 30, 2009: Verne Troyer
Best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers comedy series, Verne Troyer will serve as guest host on Nov. 30 from Baltimore. One of the shortest yet largely recognizable men in the world, the actor has more than 15 years of television experience.

Dec. 7, 2009: Mark Cuban
Instead of humoring the NBA Universe with his infinite antics and making authoritative basketball decisions for one night, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will spend time delegating responsibility to WWE Superstars when he hosts Raw on Dec. 7 from Dallas.

Dec. 14, 2009: Dennis Miller
Comedian and radio talk show host Dennis Miller, meanwhile, will serve as the host of the 2009 Slammy Awards during a special three-hour presentation of Raw on Dec. 14 from Corpus Christi, Texas. The five-time Emmy award-winning comic is renowned for his improvisations and acerbic humor about pop culture and politics.

Be sure to tune in every Monday night when the biggest stars from all over the world take over as Raw’s special guest host.

That could easily change though as ‘Taker vs. Jericho had also been rumored at one point several weeks ago.
Kofi Kingston posted the following messages on Twitter from New York City on Monday: “Shooting a commercial in ny before the show. Busy day! But busy is good people. Busy is good.” and “Wow. MSG was absolutely 100% amazing. To wrestle in a venue with such history is truly an honor.”

As noted earlier this morning here on the website, during a Tuesday night press conference in Australia to promote the upcoming Hulkamania: Let The Battle Begin tour, a wild brawl broke out that left Hulk Hogan beaten and bloodied by his opponent on the tour, Ric Flair. While most probably understand that what occurred is “worked” and part of the show, the Australia media is reporting the story as if it were a legit attack. The story is getting a ton of media attention on Australian television news shows and is a a headline story on many Australian news websites.

The Herald Sun writes, ”Media were stunned as the Hulk’s head began bleeding profusely and confusion broke out when the veteran wrestling star was unable to get to his feet.”

TMZ.com has picked up on the Australian media’s coverage of the attack, asking readers whether the blood coming from Hulk Hogan’s head was real. So far, over 70% say the blood was fake.

The Hulkamania: Let the Battle Begin tour begins this Saturday in Melbourne.

Graham stated that he plans to create a t-shirt with a picture of Linda on it, along with a bloody razor blade taped to her finger. Graham is offended that WWE has suddenly eliminated blood from the shows, due to her senate campaign. You can read the full article at http://www.courant.com/ Here is a highlight, from WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt on the matter… “He’s just a bitter, angry man who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. … Vince (McMahon) doesn’t hate Billy. If there’s any hate, it’s a one-way thing.”

The Nashville Fairgrounds (former home of TNA weekly PPVs) will remain open until December 31st, 2010 so that the events that run there have more time to find a new home. There is also a movement to keep the Fairgrounds open, which you can check out at http://www.wsmv.com/

WWE is set to release the The History of the World Heavyweight Championship DVD set on December 1st.

Jim Ross has a new blog entry up at JrsBarBQ.com; here are the highlights…

On Raw From MSG: As an old schooler with an opinion, although I enjoyed watching Raw from the Garden, I wish, in hindsight, that there had been more bell to bell match time, especially in the main event. This observation may be an eye roller to some but that’s their prerogative. And I have mine.

On Kofi Kingston: Kofi Kingston can look back on this night in MSG as perhaps the night he stepped up and touched the next level. I thought Kofi and Randy Orton’s physical interaction was the wrestling highlight of the show. That was some big time stuff from two young, talented competitors.

On The Raw Set At MSG: I like the short, smaller set as WWE used the short, live event entrance for the show instead of the long ramp entrance which kills a bunch of seats. Over 20,000 fans were in the Garden Monday night of which we heard on multiple occasions. We may have heard it with such regularity that I thought we might might be the audio daily double at the end of the night. Seriously, that was a huge crowd and an accomplishment for any event. I don’t know but I assume that that short entrance way was for MSG or other similar arenas and that the traditional entrance will be used next week but that’s an assumption.

On Announcing: I think we are approaching a non productive trend in the business as it relates to the announcing. We are all guilty, me too, of doing too much hyperbole, talking about too many things that are not related to a bout. In other words sell, sell, sell. “The most historic, most anticipated, most watched, most longest running, most amazing main event, most..most ..most.” This isn’t a knock on my fellow announcers as I have been just as guilty, if not more, but after being home for several weeks and hearing a bunch of wrestling on TV it begins to become noticeable and not in a good way.

You can read the full blog at JrsBarBQ.com.

The crowd for the Monday taping was minimal and as an incentive to keep people in the audience for tonights tapings they are giving a free t-shirt to anyone who is staying the entire night, its not lack of TNA fans however Florida is in its slower season where there aren’t that many people in town to attend the taping.

TNA taped an episode and a half tonight and the matches were ALL OVER the place so other than the Series matches, I am not sure what order the show will go in.

For the Thanksgiving Episode they did away with the Turkey Bowl and will be doing a Championship Series with the winner getting a shot at the respective titles in their Division, meaning if you primarily wrestle in the Tag Division, you get a Tag Title Shot.

IMPACT TAPING RESULTS

Bobby Lashley vs. Abyss
Championship Series Quarterfinal
When they take the fight to the outside Abyss accidently throws an elbow and hits Krystal. Abyss doesn’t realize he hit Krystal and when he has his back turned looking outside the ring at her Bobby Lashley hits a spear for the win.

Suicide vs. Desmond Wolfe
Championship Series Quarterfinals
Desmond Wolfe pins Suicide after the Tower of London.

Kurt Angle vs. The Pope
Championship Series Quarterfinal
Kurt pins Pope after an Angle Slam. Both men were TOTALLY over, Pope is now entering through the Face Tunnel.

Homicide vs. Robert Rude
Championship Series Quarterfinal
Rude won after he hit Homicide with a spinebuster.

Tara won a Knockout Battle Royal for a title shot at Final Resolution which included The Beautiful People, Taylor Wilde, Sarita, Daffney, Hamada, and Tracy Brooks. ODB was out at ringside as a “special ref” to watch the action. After Tara won ODB got in the ring and raised her hand, Tara went to shake her hand but ODB slapped her hand away and walked out of the ring.

Daniels (Who is 100% heel now) vs. Abyss
AJ started out sitting at commentary but ended up standing next to the table with his arms folded just watching the action. Daniels pinned Abyss after a low blow and a roll up when Abyss was distracted by the Beautiful People attacking Lauren in the Ladies Room on the big screen. Daniels motioned for AJ to get in the ring and after some taunting AJ took off his watch and emptied his pockets, before he could make it in the ring AJ was attacked by his masked assailant.

Bobby Lashley vs Desmond Wolfe
Championship Series Semifinal
Lashley beat Wolfe when Referee Earl Hebner DQ’d Desmond for not breaking the submission he had on Lashley in the ropes. Wolfe worked over the arm of Lashely for most of the match.

Robert Roode vs. Kurt Angle
Roode beats Angle by Countout after Wolfe came out and the 2 brawled on the entrance ramp. Angle tried running into the ring before the referee’s 10 count but just missed it, which is a shame cause the two had a great match.

Jesse Neal vs. The Pope
In his re-debut match on Impact, Jesse Neal took the fall to Pope after the Dinero Express. After the match, Jesse “Gored” the Pope and then the lights went out. Suicide appeared on the top turnbuckle and dropkicked Neal. Team 3D and Rhino charged the ring and the 4 surrounded Pope and Suicide. This brings out Morgan and Hernandez who quickly clear the ring. After a stare down and the heels attempting to get back in the ring, the heels make their way to the back and the faces celebrate in the ring.

AJ Styles comes to the ring and first has a message for Sting, he says its the holidays and he is worried about Sting cause he hasn’t heard from him, so he asks Sting to get in touch with him. Then he moves on to Daniels who comes to the ring and runs down AJ about being selfish and not being a good friend. I really couldn’t hear everything cause the crowd kept telling Daniels to shut up and it was really loud. Nothing physical though, Daniels just leaves the ring.

Hamada vs. Sarita
These two had a really good back and forth match which ended with Hamada hitting the Michinoku Driver.

Bobby Lashley vs. Robert Roode
Championship Series Finals
Some really good wrestling with the crowd being split…Lashley gets the win after a spear. He now receives a future TNA World Heavyweight Championship match, they didn’t say anything about it being a Final Resolution.

Xplosion Match
Kiyoshi pinned Kip James after spraying mist in his eyes and a short DDT.

Some additional spoilers notes to add to JD’s TNA Impact spoilers for the episode that will air tomorrow:

*During the opening 8 man tag, the MCMG got the win using the Neckbreaker/Frog Splash combo. Rob Terry cost World Elite the match when Sabin ducked a clothesline and Terry hit a member of the British Invasion. After the match the World Elite were all having words with Big Rob.

*When Daniels pinned Styles during the tag match he celebrated as if he had won the title, screaming “I told you”

*In the Alex Shelley vs Doug Williams match the referee sent all teammates at ringside to the back, Brutus and Big Rob sucker punched Sabin on their way to the back, the teammates were not at ringside during the match.

There may be another shuffling of announcers soon as Jerry Lawler being attacked on RAW Monday night and Matt Striker filling in for him was done so WWE could test the waters to see how the different announcers work together. Vince is said to be very high on Matt Striker at the moment.

Word is that several people who had been trying out for the new WWE announcer spot were contacted this past week and thanked for applying but were told that someone else had been hired.

There are also rumors that Sean Mooney has been re-hired by WWE although I have been unable to confirm that just yet.
