The Disturbed story: Beer, Blood and Belt(s)

This tale in the TNA vs NCW saga is not like others. The decision to switch promotions was one not taken lightly. It started off with some bad news from the Doctors.....

*Glass breaks and Sober by Tool hits the PA system. Disturbed comes out to a chorus of boo's from the crowd and makes his way to the ring with a chair.* *Disturbed sets the chair up in the middle of the ring and sits down with a mic in hand* D316: The other week I went to the doctors for an MRI scan on my neck. Now most of you know about my neck problems, they go back to when I got my first neck injury from a botched Owen Radd piledriver on August 3. 1997. It is what kept me out of action untill the next year. In January 2000 I had surgury to remove bone chips from my neck. The bone chips were touching my spinal cord, and caused alot of pain and numbness in my shoulders, arms and hands. I wasn't able to work out my upper body until early May 2000, which sucked. Now, it appears that those problems are back, and badder than ever. Then I came to TNA, where I have built up many friendships backstage, and made alot people hate me out here. *Crowd cheers* D316: When I came to TNA, I didn't know what to expect. The industry had changed so much since I was away. The introduction of pictures to our promos changed the way you, the fans and other wrestler, where to see us. Backstage I have built up many friendships, and made alot people hate me out here, which is a good thing. Those friendships are dear to my heart, so this is why it hurts so much to say this...Doctors have told me that if I do not rest, take time out from the thing I love doing, then I could risk making my injury worse...and possibly even kill myself. *The crowd are in a stunned silence. You hear some kid shout 'NO NO NO NO NO' in a really high-pitched squeeky voice.* D316: So I have made the decision to not take that risk, and will be having my last ever match, here, in TNA against The Dude at Up Your Ass. *Crowd pop* D316: I would just like to thank the guys who have been in charge of TNA, Naitch, LC, Dusty and of course The Dude, for letting me allow you great people the chance to see me perform. Thank you and see you at Up Your Ass *Sober hits the PA and Disturbed gets up and leaves the ring. The crowd are actually cheering for a change for Disturbed as he makes his way up the ramp and backstage.*

One of TNA's top stars had been delt the blow he had been dreading all his career....the news that he would have to retire or risk permanant injury, or even worse, death. This lead to his last match in TNA, against head booker at the time, The Dude:

The Glass Shatters, and Disturbed 3:16 makes his way to the ring, getting the biggest pop of the night! The two immediately start punching away at each other, and the crowd blows the roof off the arena! The brawl almost immediately spills down to the outside, where Disturbed begins to the Dude over badly. The Dude breaks away for a moment, and Disturbed pays his former boss his proper respects. The Dude charges back, and clotheslines D316. The Loved One takes the fight back into the ring and shoots D316 into the ropes, but Disturbed fires back with a clothesline! Disturbed pounds away at the Dude, who struggles to his feet long enough to kick Disturbed in the nether-regions, then duck out of the ring to grab a chair. Just as Disturbed gets to his feet, the Dude plasters him with a vicious chair shot! The Dude covers! …1 …2 …Disturbed kicks out! The Dude winds up for another chair shot, but this time Disturbed ducks it, and KICK-WHAM-STUNNER!!!! Disturbed covers! …1 …2 …The Dude’s foot is on the rope! Thinking the match is over, the Cock comes down to the ring to congratulate Disturbed on his match. Disturbed though, in the heat of battle, grabs a chair and levels Cocky with it, thus assuring a potentially lucrative Disturbed/Cocky encounter somewhere down the road. The Dude, meanwhile, pulls out a pair of wire strippers from his tights, and begins to strip away the protective coating on the ropes. Jim: What the hell’s that?! What’s the Dude doing to those ropes?! Jerry: Those are no ordinary ropes, JR! That’s… BARBED WIRE!!!! The Dude blind-sides Disturbed, and whips him towards the wires. D316 slides under them to the outside, and flips Dude the finger. The Dude comes after him, and the two being brawling on the outside again. Disturbed slams the Dude head first into the announcer’s table… And then rolls the Dude onto the table. He sets up to slam him through, but the Dude fights back, kicks him in the gut, and PILEDRIVES DISTURBED THROUGH THE TABLE!!! The Dude then grabs a chair, heads up to the ring apron, and delivers the coup de grace! The Loved One rolls Disturbed back into the ring and goes for the cover. …1 …2 …DISTURBED KICKS OUT! The Dude can’t believe it, so he picks up Disturbed to finish him off with the Love Gun. Before he can hit it, though, Disturbed picks him up and drops him RIGHT ON THE BARBED WIRE! Disturbed falls back, reeling from the pain in his neck. The Dude pulls D316 out of the ring, and clotheslines him over the guardrail. The two brawl their way through the fans until they reach the top of the stands. The Dude nails Disturbed with a quick DDT, then sets him up on one of the concession stand tables. The Dude then climbs up to the Crow’s Nest, and DROPS AN ELBOW!!! Crowd: HO-LY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT! Jim: Bah Gawd, Disturbed will be lucky if he even survives that! Jerry: Not to mention the Dude! Slowly, painfully, both men make their way back to the ring. Disturbed crawls in first, obviously on his last legs. The Dude, however, reaches under the ring and pulls out one last weapon. He climbs back into the ring with his barbed-wire bat, and lays out Disturbed with it! The Dude waits for Disturbed to get back up, and swings again-- Disturbed ducks, and hits the STUNNER!!! He Covers! …1 …2 …3! WINNER: Disturbed 3:16 Jim: And after a hellacious, bloodthirsty brawl, Disturbed 3:16 can leave TNA with his head held high! He took on TNA’s Hardcore Legend, and beat him at his own game! Jerry: What an incredible match!

When Disturbed walked back through the curtain he was met by fellow wrestlers, family and friends and backstage workers. Disturbed said his final goodbye's later that night, and left TNA forever....

Months down the line, rumors were circulating that Disturbed had recieved some revolutionary surgury. At the time it is un-known how this came about, but he did give an interview which explained some things:

D316:I was sitting at home, reading my tv guides, watching the box, speaking to a number of the guys, Cock, Dusty, Dark_Kane, asking how I was doing, you know, just generally chit-chat about my condition. Then, a couple of weeks after being at home I got a phone call...someone, and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. We spoke on the phone for a good couple of hours, we talked about different things, but the main topic of conversation was my in ring return. Now I explained to him, I could no longer wrestle, unless I wanted to risk killing myself. But then he told me of some revolutionary Doctor in Germany, Dr Hanz Deutscher Wetterdienst, who could perform a procedure that would releave me of pain, would save my life....and most importantly, would allow me to return to wrestling.

Months of speculation went round the internet as to whether Disturbed had been in contact with NCW, which was denied by spokesmen. Although they said there wasn't any contact between Disturbed and NCW, few believed this and couldn't wait to see him back in the ring. So it was only a matter of time before Disturbed was seen once again in the ring.

Disturbed runs down to the ring and goes straight on the attack… JG: Stunner to TRO, Danny, und Cool King! Himmler: Disturbed ist cleaning house! Someone from the crowd tosses him a beer. He drinks the beer down, before picking up Cool King and tossing him over the top rope. Frinkel: Cool King hast been eliminated! Marcyo turns around, into a… JG: Stunner! Disturbed gives the fans the finger salute, when J Dogg runs up behind him and tips him out of the ring! Frinkel: Disturbed hast been eliminated! J Dogg watches as the officials restrain Disturbed and stop him getting back in the ring. Suddenly… TRO runs up behind J Dogg and shoves him over the ropes onto the group of officials! Frinkel: J Dogg hast been eliminated!

Even though his NCW debut go as well as hoped, Disturbed managed to to achieve one thing, and that was to get back to doing what he loved best.....

It seemed disturbed would be lost in the shuffle and stay midcard. He feuded with J-dogg until after Hitler Mania. However, Disturbed feuded with old TNA rival Cock and realized his career was about to pick up.

The crowd pop as the referee starts to get angry. Disturbed goes to pick up Cocky, but is caught. Cocky prepares to deliver the Cock Bottom, but Disturbed ducks out of it and nails the… JG: STUNNER! MEIN GOTT! STUNNER! Disturbed drops into the cover… 1… 2… 3! *DING DING DING* The crowd explode as the ref raises Disturbed arm in victory, while Cocky J lies motionless on the canvas.

Cock did what he did his whole NCW career, put people over. He went on to Austa-whatever and competed in a tourney to crown a NCW champ. Defeating Havok, LPD and finally Shaggy.

Disturbed finally became Champion. He went on to bash of the bulge to defeat Naitch and LPD. I Tivo'd it but never got around to watching it. I heard it was great except LPD got pissed at LC who was chanting "I own NCW" and threatend to leave the company mid-match. Long live the champ disturbed....long live the champ.
