TNA Knockouts Drawing Big Ratings?, iMPACT! vs. ECW, & More News

By Ryan Clark on May 11, 2008 at 1:07 PM EST

The Daizee Haze vs. Cheerleader Melissa (also known as Raisha Saaed) match from the 5/1 iMPACT! managed to draw more viewers than the show's main event match, which featured all three headliners for tomorrow night's Sacrifice pay-per-view no less. The Haze vs. Melissa match drew a 1.10 rating. The main event later in the show featuring Joe & Angle vs. Steiner & Williams drew a 0.99 rating. The match also lost 154,000 viewers, the biggest tune out during the show. The lowest-rated part of the show was actually the final segment in which Cornette announced the eight singles wrestlers for the tag team tournament. Cornette's segment lost 70,000 viewers for a 0.94 rating. The highest-rated part of the show did not feature the ladies for once. The Rock 'n' Rave Infection vs. AJ Styles & Super Eric match drew the highest quarter hour of the show with a 1.14 ratings peak that gained 280,000 viewers. And in what appears to be a first, the tandem of Velvet Sky & Angelina Love actually lost viewers, and in two segments no less. Their interview segment with Cornette & a short backstage segment with Booker T & Styles lost 140,000 viewers. Their match later in the show with Gail Kim & ODB lost 56,000 viewers as well.

As far as the rating for this week's edition of iMPACT! is concerned, TNA had a chance to beat ECW's 100th show (which drew a 1.08 rating), but were not even close. The show tied its worst number in a while with a 0.9 rating (with an average viewership of 1.2 million viewers). The lone bright spot of the show was with the ladies as their pole match drew a 1.06 rating. The show opened with a 0.96 quarter, but dropped to a show-low rating of 0.85 during quarter two, which featured a slew of X Division wrestlers such as Johnny Devine, Shark Boy and Jimmy Rave. With the exception of the ladies the match & the first segment, the ratings for the show ranged from 0.85 to 0.88 for the other quarters.

TNA has hired Steve Allison as their Chief Marketing Officer. Allison was a major executive for Midway Games, but the company is not doing too well and he left his position. Midway Games lost $34 million during their fiscal first quarter of 2008.
