In light of World Wrestling Entertainment letting go of 10% of their workforce yesterday, a talent purge is expected today. According to several people in the company, WWE is expected to release some performers as part of their economic cutback initiative. Stay tuned for names.
We reported earlier this week that “The Wrestler” star Mickey Rourke had signed on for Sylvester Stallone’s new movie “The Expendables.” It appears Rourke has an even bigger role on his plate, as HollywoodReporter.com reports that Rourke is in talks to co-star in the upcoming Ironman sequel. Rourke would play a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes “Whiplash”, a villain with deadly, technologically enhanced coils. The project begins shooting in New York this spring and is currently slated for a May 7, 2010 release.
