ROH Offered A TV Deal Today, WWE Layoffs, ECW Notes, Cena, More
As noted earlier today here on the website, World Wrestling Entertainment has reportedly laid off a number of staff from the office at Titan Tower in Stamford, CT. While the positions that were laid off are not currently known, sources say that personnel from the television department, WWE.com and office area of the company were let go. These cuts are said to reflect 10% of the staff. We’re being told that even more layoffs are coming tomorrow.
Yesterday, HDNet sent an official offer to Ring of Honor for a proposed one-hour weekly TV show. This is the first TV offer the promotion has ever received. As of now there is no word on the details of the deal or even if Ring of Honor has accepted the offer.
WWE put out a press release announcing the rebroadcast of ECW on mun2 every Friday night starting January 9th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. “We’re excited to expand our partnership with WWE with this new property,” says Alex Pels, General Manager for mun2. “The popularity of WWE among young Latinos has prompted us to continue providing action-packed, WWE entertainment for our audience, all while building strategic partnerships for the network.”
According to a press release issued by research firm ContactAnyCelebrity.com, John Cena was ranked in the top 10 of the “Most Wanted Celebrities.” Cena only trailed Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Oprah Winfrey, and Zac Efron.
