More On Austin’s Major Film Role, More Lita/Mania News, More

As noted earlier this morning here on the website, soon to be WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin has joined the cast of Sylvester Stallone’s new film “The Expendables” according to an article by Variety. “The Expendables” is an action film about a team of mercenaries who attempt to overthrow a South American dictator. Also starring in the film includes Mickey Rourke (of “The Wrestler” fame), Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker and Charisma Carpenter.

I heard this yesterday, but more people are saying former WWE Diva Amy “Lita” Dumas has absolutely no plans to appear at WrestleMania XXV. As noted earlier, she’s personally e-mailed fans that have contacted her via The Luchagor’s official Myspace page (www.myspace.com/theluchagors13), saying the only thing she’s scheduled to do during WrestleMania weekend is appear at Booker T’s Legends of Wrestling Fanfest charity event on April 3rd. She also plugged her shows in Austin, Texas over the next few weeks, saying they’re free of charge. Dumas is still listed on www.bookertlow.com, so as long her name is there, she won’t be appearing at WrestleMania. Talent taking part in WWE’s festivities during WrestleMania weekend are prohibited from appearing at Booker T’s event.

Lilian Garcia is scheduled to sing “God Bless America” tomorrow night at “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” Madison Square Garden in New York City. She released the following statement through her MySpace page (www.myspace.com/liliangarcia): Another Upcoming Appearance Here’s another new one for you guys. “Lilian to sing “God Bless America” BIG EAST SEMI-FINAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT Friday, March 13 Madison Square Garden, NYC 9:00pm”Lilian :)

The new WWE Encyclopedia released this past week by DK Publishing actually features a half-page profile (and photo) on Chris Benoit. There is no mention made of his death or murdering incident. The bio concludes with him losing the World Heavyweight Championship in 2004 and the following note: “but he was still a contender for major titles.”
