WWE is positioning this year’s Summerslam as an important event, closer to a WrestleMania level event, so that cities will want to bid on the event like they do WrestleMania. That is also why they are holding an AXXESS event that weekend.
WWE will also be trying to tap into the Hollywood community by hosting parties and events through their Hollywood agency, WME. They company will work with MyNetworkTV and NBC/Universal and try to bring in potential new partners and sponsors. WME’s entire agency is working on the project.
