WWE turned to an expected celebrity guest RAW host earlier than had been assumed. The company announced during Monday’s RAW that Freddie Prinze, Jr. will take the helm of next week’s program. Prinze, Jr., a longtime wrestling fan, contributed to WWE’s creative team for much of 2008 before departing in February of 2009. Recently cast in FOX’s hit drama “24” as Davis Cole, a field operative for the revived CTU outlet in New York, Prinze had always appeared a virtual shoo-in to host RAW (and confirmed by name as a future host by Stephanie McMahon). Nonetheless, with the eighth season of “24” not premiering until early 2010, most assumed WWE would hold off on the Prinze appearance until later this fall.
The Big Show & Chris Jericho will face Randy Orton and John Cena next week on RAW.
It also looks like we’ll see Jack Swagger vs. MVP next week on RAW as well.
