During last night’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown, John Morrison defeated Rey Mysterio to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. This was confirmed this past Tuesday night following the TV tapings in Phoenix, AZ. Mysterio’s 30 day suspension came into play regarding this decision and officially went into effect this past Wednesday. Morrison will now defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler at the Breaking Point PPV on Sunday, September 13.
