R1 Unites with Performance Pros to Unveil Women’s Threat Management Training
The R1 Training Center, L.A.’s original MMA Performance gym in collaboration with Dr Michael Gervais’s, Pinnacle Performance (www.pinnacle.pro) are happy to announce the development of R1’s Threat Management Training (TMT), an innovative course to address women’s safety issues. Our TMT, blends practical defensive tactics, optimal performance training and essential psychological skills to provide women with sensible options before, during and after a hostile encounter.
The R1: TMT course was developed specifically for women to provide basic strategies and skills used for self-protection. This is not karate or traditional martial arts training – it does not require years of study to perfect. Instruction is based on the belief that we can act competently and decisively, by taking responsibility for our own safety. Core principals of this course: intelligence over emotions, common sense over random action, focus over fear.
Our two-day course begins 10AM on Saturday, November 7 at R1 and consists of four, 3-hour training sessions. Each training session will feature both verbal and hands-on applications, including, threat recognition, avoidance strategies and worse case scenarios. The course’s hands-on training will include unarmed, armed and weapons of opportunity.
Below is a brief overview of topics to be covered:
* Women’s safety concerns
* Proactive avoidance
* Mental conditioning
* Practical self-defense techniques
* Applicable fitness routines
* Stress/ Fear coping mechanisms
* Law enforcement perspective
* Discussion: ‘Realities of Violence & Its Aftermath’
Ultimately, empowerment is the goal of our R1: TMT program. With no outrageous claims nor irresponsible recommendations, we will encourage and guide you towards mastering the only thing truly master-able… yourself.
