Todd Grisham finished up with WWE at tonight’s WWE NXT TV tapings. He is leaving the company to take a position at ESPN.
According to sources, there had been talk backstage within WWE of Grisham leaving for the last few months. His WWE responsibilities had been greatly scaled back over the last year or so.
Fellow announcer William Regal acknowledged during the NXT broadcast that Grisham was leaving.
Regal later wrote the following on Twitter:
“I would like to thank @todd_grisham for all his help get me through NXT.Best wishes for your new career at ESPN.”
It should be noted that Grisham used to do play by play for numerous soccer games on FOX Sports. He had been with WWE since 2004 and hosted shows such as ECW, NXT, Byte This, Sunday Night Heat and The Bottom Line. No word yet if Grisham will still call Major League Soccer games.
