— Over the last few weeks, approximately 180,000 homes have dropped cable and/or satellite service. This is the first time that the cable industry has witnessed such a slow, but steady decline. While on the surface it doesn’t seem like much, the USA Network and Spike TV have had a decrease in homes of 1.5%. For companies like WWE & TNA, that means they may do an identical ratings number, but viewers will be down 1.5%.
— The rock band Nada Surf have now confirmed that their new album was delayed due to legal action from the WWE. They admitted that they violated WWE copyright. One of their songs on the album, called “Somebody Take the Damn Money,” was based on the 1983 Carolinas feud where Harley Race put up a $25,000 bounty on anyone who could take out Ric Flair. Part of the song includes clips from the famous Race promo. The band thought that they were in the clear, since Jim Crockett Promotions is long gone. They didn’t realize the Crockett library was sold to Ted Turner in 1988, who then sold their library to WWF in 2001. Right now they are changing the song so it can get through copyright issues.

— The October 1st WWE joint house show in Mobile drew 3,200 paying, for a gate of $92,000. This is considered disappointing for a joint show headlined by John Cena.
