— The Rock has booked another new role for himself. SuperHeroHype reports that the Rock will star in Ciudad, based on the Russo Brothers’ graphic novel. The brothers will direct the film, which is being produced by Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin. Joe Russo wrote the screenplay.
The graphic novel, still unpublished, is set in one of the most dangerous and corrupt cities in the world. Johnson plays a black market mercenary who’s hired by a Brazilian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped daughter.
“Exploring genre has always been a driving motivation for us as filmmakers,” said the brothers, “This movie is the culmination of a long time ambition to bring our sensibilities to an action thriller.”
