WWE’s YouTube Ranking, SD Social Media Score, More

— Deadline recently did a report on the popularity of YouTube.com channels and it mentioned where WWE’s own page ranked among the top channels. For the week of June 14-20, WWE’s “Fan Nation” YouTube page was #3 among new original content providers that partnered with YouTube. WWE had 3,685,908 total views. This put them behind Sourcefed (6.02 million) and The Warner Sound (5.56 million). It was up from #5 last week.

— An article on Stars & Stripes reports that active U.S. Marine Sgt. Gaylon Summers has signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling to begin training in their dojo before joining the promotion full-time. Summers is stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. He moved through the US independent scene before competing in various Japanese promotions after being stationed there in 2009. He is 6’7″ and 260 pounds. New Japan has told him they will work on his wrestling ability. He said: “All they cared about was my height and weight. They said, forget everything. We’ll teach you our way.”

— Scotland-based adult-themed promotion Insane Championship Wrestling, which was recently dropped from UK TV after problems with censors, is now available on WWNLive.com. Episode One, “Up in Smoke”, features Dragon Gate UK star Noam Dar, former NWA British Heavyweight Champion Johnny Moss, Zero One star James Scott, and Lionheart, who wrestled Jeff Jarrett when TNA came to the UK. The first episode is priced at $9.99 on WWNLive.com.

— Trendrr reports that Friday’s WWE SmackDown episode earned a 61,126 social media score. This is the highest for a first-run Friday episode since March. The score beat the yearly average of 55.575 by 10%. It ranked #4 on cable TV for the third consecutive week, behind ESPN’s Euro 2012 coverage, ESPN’s First Take (for the night after the NBA Finals) and SpongeBob SquarePants.
