— WWE Champion CM Punk will be appearing at this Thursday night’s WWE NXT tapings from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will also be announcing at the show. The next taping after Thursday won’t be until September 20th. They’ve been taping way out in advance, thus the reason for the big break coming up.
— As noted earlier, following Triple H’s loss to Brock Lesnar last night at the Summerslam PPV, he got emotional, telling the live crowd, “I’m sorry” as Michael Cole speculated whether we’ve seen the last of Triple H. The feeling is that after some time off, he could return to the ring by the end of the year. As for Brock Lesnar, word is that he still has plenty of dates left on his contract and WWE won’t have a problem booking him in a few more feuds. Lesnar is not expected to wrestle again until the Survivor Series PPV in November.
In an update on this, the idea behind the match ending was to make you think Triple H was retiring so that when he does eventually return, it’ll mean more to the average fan. They will likely follow this up on RAW tonight but he is not retiring no matter what they say. Also, the “broken arm” storyline is a strong indication that we’ll see a rematch between the two down the line.
