— As of last word, Rey Mysterio was scheduled for tonight’s Royal Rumble PPV and at least the SmackDown tapings on Tuesday in San Diego (his hometown). Mysterio made an appearance at the 1/18 WWE event in Los Angeles last week. WWE officials still aren’t sure when Mysterio will resume a full-time schedule with the company. As reported on earlier, WWE gave Mysterio time off to deal with personal matters.
— A pro wrestling connection with the Super Bowl this year. Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh was the roommate of Brian Pillman in the early 1980s when both were playing football at Miami of Ohio. Pillman was considered the start of the team as he was a first-team Division I-AA All-American nose tackle. Harbaugh added, “He was a great guy, but a crazy guy. They started him off as a good guy, but they made him into a bad guy. He was one of the Four Horseman. He made a better bad guy, but really, he was the best football player I ever played with.”
