— The Associated Press has an article up on he IOC’s decision to drop wrestling from the Olympics, which you can read here. TNA star, and Olympic Gold Medal winner in wrestling Kurt Angle was quoted in the article, stating the following…
“We’re going to fight this. They can’t just drop it. They’re keeping badminton and that sport where you jump on a trampoline, and they’re dropping wrestling. It’s just crazy. I don’t know what this world is coming to. Things are changing.”
As noted earlier, Angle, a 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist, tweeted the following: “I’m Shocked. Will Do an Exclusive Interview Later today. Wrestling Will Stay in Olympics.”
— James Jefferson, who worked as Spike of the MOD Squad for Jim Crockett Promotions and later in WCW, passed away on January 28th in South Carolina. Jefferson and his brother Mack began working as enhancement talent in the Crockett Mid-Atlantic promotion in the early 80s, billed as the Jeffers. They then took the biker cop gimmick, the MOD Squad, Spike and Basher, in 1986. They also worked in Florida, Mid-Southern (Memphis) and The Central States area during their time.
