WWE has announced that their “Superstars for Sandy Relief” fundraising auctions have raised $524,742. The auctions benefit relief efforts in relation to Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey; the online auction ran from March 25th through April 9th and included unique experiences with both WWE talent and other celebrities. The press release notes that over 2,000 bids were placed from 152 countries to set a record for charity auction site Charitybuzz.com.
Vince McMahon commented on the fundraising efforts, saying, “Superstars for Sandy Relief helped raise significant funds and awareness to support the people of New York and New Jersey who are still affected long after the devastating storm. I’m proud that WWE and its global fan base supported such an important initiative.”
