As of right now, the current plan for SummerSlam is to have Daniel Bryan defeat John Cena for the WWE title, only for Randy Orton to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, take the belt from Bryan and make the heel turn he’s been rumored to make for some time now. As always, plans can and always do change but this was the scenario that was being discussed at this week’s TV tapings.
WWE.com reported that Orton was “injured” on SmackDown and it’s possible that WWE could hype the injury on RAW and then take Orton off of television. This would make his MITB cash-in an even bigger surprise at the event. Another reason some think Orton is cashing in at SummerSlam is because there is no scheduled rematch between Cena and Bryan at Night of Champions this year.
Once again, plans can change so stay tuned.
