WWE Profiles Madusa, Meet ‘Sunny’, Rock Speaks Out

— The official YouTube account of WWE has released the following video previewing this month’s slate of Classics On Demand programming. The theme is “Unsung Heroes”: “From overcoming the greatest of odds, to accomplishing the unimaginable… this is a special look at the Superstars you may have underestimated.”

— Tammy “Sunny” Sytch will appear at Pro Wrestling World in the Merchants Square Mall 1901 S. 12th St. Allentown, Pennsylvania, on August 24 from noon to 3:00 p.m.

— Madusa, known as Alundra Blayze in WWE, is this week’s addition to the WWE.com’s Alumni section.

In December 1995, the accomplished women’s wrestler joined World Championship Wrestling and proceeded to dump the WWF Women’s Championship belt into a trash can on a live episode of WCW Monday Nitro. Regarding the incident, WWE writes, “At a time when WCW had the advantage over WWE in the storied Monday Night War, the incident was a cannonball through the front gates of Mr. McMahon’s crumbling empire. Not only had another one of his competitors aligned themselves with the competition, but a WWE title had been publically disgraced.”

— Promoting the release of GI Joe: Retaliation on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D, former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke to Metro.co.uk about how important GI Joe was to him growing up as a young child.

“I played with my GI Joe and Star Wars action figures every day. They mingled. I was always creating scenarios with them, so, looking back, they were very important,” said Johnson. “The cool, emotional connectivity to all that, with me coming full circle by starring in this movie, is a very cool thing.”

Johnson also discussed his relationship with Bruce Willis, his co-star in GI Joe: Retaliation.

“That guy is something else. I’ve been buddies with Bruce for a while. He’s iconic. He’s been one of the world’s biggest movie stars for a long time, so us together, guns in our hands, saving the world as GI Joes, was cool,” said Johnson.
