UPDATE: AJ Styles is heading to AAA in Mexico and will defend the TNA title at Sunday’s TV tapings in Tonalá, Mexico. His opponent will be announced later today.
It had been previously reported that Styles would travel internationally, and defend the title in places like AAA as well as Muta’s promotion in Japan.
ORIGINAL: As we exclusively reported over the past several days here on the website, TNA will reportedly be letting AJ Styles defend the TNA World Heavyweight title outside of the company to push the angle that he is no longer under contract. He will go to The Great Muta’s promotion in Japan, along with AAA in Mexico. He will claim to be the real world champion during this time, which will lead him back to TNA for a Champion vs. Champion match once the tournament that will be announced next week on iMPACT! concludes.
TNA writers have been criticized for the booking of this past week’s iMPACT! Wrestling. While there were questions of if the writing staff had changed, it was the same group of writers who wrote the shows heading into Bound for Glory.
