— Genki Horiguchi will not be a part of this weekend’s DGUSA events in Brooklyn and Queens, New York due to “travel issues” that prevented him from leaving Japan.
DGUSA just found out not long ago and are in the process of rebooking the events. Ricochet vs Rich Swann is set for tomorrow at the Queensborough Elks Lodge.
Gabe Sapolsky said: “We knew we had to put together the best possible match to replace Genki so we pulled the trigger on this, even though we were saving it for a big match down the line. I think this might be the first ever match between them.”
Jimmy Susumu vs Chuck Taylor was added to the Brooklyn show, which will lead to more changes.
— Sapolsky also said that since Chris Hero was announced, DGUSA had a spike in iPPV pre-orders and ticket sales. He said he’s not “going to get cute with the booking” of Hero vs. DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate champion Johnny Gargano.
He added: “This is a huge weekend for us to make an impression. I want it to be as epic as possible. We want to just let them go.”
— Mochizuki is currently on his way to the events this weekend. DGUSA released the following video for his appearances:
