Douglas Getz, who was WWE’s Vice President of Reality, Promotions and Special Projects, passed away suddenly yesterday at the age of forty-four. Getz had been with the company since 1992 and was considered one of the top people in the company in terms of production. Getz was well-liked backstage and when word began making its way around the company at today’s SmackDown taping, the talent was reportedly quite saddened. Getz was scheduled to work production for tonight’s TV taping.
Getz helped the company create their own in-house ad agency, which designed and implemented their marketing campaigns. Getz left WWE to create his own production company and worked with WWE on several projects before he was brought back in his VP role a few years ago.
