There was strong interest from at least one sports channel in making a TV deal with WWE before the company later announced their new deal with NBCUniversal last week. When the channel apparently heard what WWE wanted in return, they immediately lost interest. According to sources, WWE greatly overplayed their hand in negotiations from the word “go,” which resulted in a lack of legitimate bids from other networks.
The source goes on to say that there is a perception within the TV industry that WWE is “cheap programming” that will help a station with ratings.
