Per the latest Box Office Report, Guardians of the Galaxy, co-starring WWE’s Batista, was No. 1 at the box office this weekend, grossing $17.6 million.
The film was No. 1 again after scoring No. 2 against Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the last two weekends. Guardians has now grossed an estimated $251.9 million domestically and $489.5 million worldwide. The film is on track to easily out gross the domestic total for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which made $259 million.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is currently set for a July 28, 2017 release.
By comparison, The Rock’s “Hercules” film, which is in its’ fifth week, did not place in the top 15 this weekend, expected to earn $830,000 for a domestic total of $69.92 million.
In Australia, “Guardians of the Galaxy” finished at number one as well, while The Rock’s “Hercules” finished at number five.
