During the now infamous CM Punk interview on Colt Cabana’s “Art Of Wrestling” podcast, one of the topics “The Best in the World” brought up was WWE’s poor healthcare.
Punk noted that he worked for months with a large growth on his back, which he claimed WWE’s Senior Ringside Physician Chris Amann misdiagnosed it as being “just a fatty deposit,” which he medicated by simply giving Punk generic antibiotics, which reportedly only caused additional issues.
Eventually, after leaving the company, Punk saw an independent doctor who informed him that what he was dealing with was actually a full-blown staph infection. The doctor reportedly told Punk that he was lucky to be alive.
After hearing these comments, WWE took exception to Punk’s claims regarding their healthcare, which prompted their public relations department to issue the following statement, which we posted on the website on Friday:
“WWE takes the health and wellness of its talent very seriously and has a comprehensive Talent Wellness Program that is led by one of the most well-respected physicians in the country, Dr. Joseph Maroon.”
As it turns out, there’s a possibility that something similar could be happening right now with current WWE Superstar Kane.
While it’s purely speculation at this point, Kane appears to be working with a large growth on his back as well. Whether or not it relates in any way, shape or form to what Punk described remains to be seen, however you can view the following photo taken from this past Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, which shows Kane working with a large growth of some kind on his back.
