Al Green, who was a major star in Memphis during the 1960s and 1970s, passed away on December 26th according to PWInsider. Green was an amateur wrestler from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee who got into pro wrestling and wrestled with his brother Don as the first Heavenly Bodies. The pair won the NWA Southern Tag Team Champions seven times and worked feuds against the likes of Les Thatcher & Bearcat Wright, Johnny Walker & Dennis Hall, Jerry Jarrett & Tojo Yamamoto and Kurt & Karl Von Brauner.
Green also worked as a singles name in Memphies and became a big star, working a long-term feud with Memphis mainstay Jackie Fargo. He had been in a wheelchair over the last several years and made regular appearances at the Tennessee wrestling reunions put together by wrestling author and historian Scott Teal.
On behalf of everyone here on the website, we send our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Al Greene.
