WWE officials have been planning to add Seth Rollins to the John Cena vs Brock Lesnar WWE title match at the Royal Rumble for the last two or three weeks. It was dicussed over the past several weeks and finalized before RAW.
Officials discussed continuing with their plans to make Cena vs Lesnar the “final chapter” in their feud as it was advertised, but it was said that the Royal Rumble match is the selling point of the PPV. One storyline during the discussion was to have Lesnar get upset that Rollins was involved. This would cause problems between Paul Heyman, Lesnar and The Authority. Heyman’s loyalty to Brock would also get questioned.
